The announcement was made on March 26, and Baird is set to take on multiple roles as the host, co-creator, and executive producer of the series. Designed to blend cooking with lifestyle and documentary elements, *Climate Kitchen* will provide viewers with a variety of plant-based recipes and practical tips for sustainable living. Through engaging storytelling, the show aims to address pressing issues related to climate change, food waste, and health disparities.
In an exclusive interview with *PEOPLE*, Baird expressed the motivation behind the series, stating, “I have been looking for a show like this for many years and having not found it, I decided to create one.” She highlighted the feedback she received from her social media audience, who expressed a desire to learn how to make their lifestyles more sustainable. According to Baird, *Climate Kitchen* is designed to empower individuals to make significant changes in their homes and eating habits.

The series intends to highlight the interconnectedness between personal choices and broader societal issues, such as chronic disease and environmental justice. Baird emphasised that the show is about making gradual changes rather than striving for an unattainable ‘perfect’ lifestyle. “Living a more sustainable, earth-friendly lifestyle can seem overwhelming and expensive,” she remarked. “But *Climate Kitchen* is about embracing progress over perfection, showing how small, simple shifts can lead to meaningful differences.”
In addition to her own insights, Baird’s children will also appear as guests on the show. Both Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell have developed their culinary skills, much to their mother’s delight. Baird expressed her joy in spending time cooking together, noting that some of the best moments occur when they collaborate in the kitchen.

Among the dishes Eilish enjoys preparing is a spicy noodle and tofu soup that Baird taught her. “She puts enough chilli flakes in it to heat up a room! It’s delicious,” Baird shared. The series will also feature other guests, including Eilish’s fiancé Claudia Sulewski, as well as renowned figures like Martha Stewart and oceanographer Sylvia Earle.
*Climate Kitchen* is a joint effort between Baird’s nonprofit organisation, Support + Feed, and the public broadcasting station WETA. The initiative aims to provide educational resources for sustainable living, including cooking classes and recipe guides. Baird noted that Support + Feed has significantly contributed to addressing food equity and climate change by distributing over 2.2 million plant-based meals and pantry items.
Tom Chiodo, an executive producer at WETA, spoke highly of Baird’s approach, describing her as the “Jane Goodall of sustainable living.” He highlighted her ability to connect with audiences on a relatable level, making the crucial topic of sustainability accessible to all age groups. The show is set to commence production later this year and is expected to debut on public media platforms in 2027.
In addition to the television series, there will be a nationwide campaign associated with *Climate Kitchen*, aimed at promoting individual actions towards sustainability through various events and educational materials. The collaboration with WETA and the focus on public media will allow Baird to extend her reach and impact, providing viewers with both understanding and practical tools to facilitate change.
“The partnership with public media presents an amazing opportunity to massively expand our ability to help people make changes in their own lives,” Baird concluded. As the world grapples with pressing environmental challenges, *Climate Kitchen* aims to offer not only plant-based recipes but also a pathway toward a more sustainable future for individuals and the planet alike.
