Long Island Woman Missing After Jumping Out of Moving Car and Throwing Phone into a Bush

A search effort is underway for 32-year-old Brittany Kritis-Garip, who has been missing since Friday, March 20, 2023, in Oyster Bay, New York. According to the Nassau County Police Department, Kritis-Garip was last seen around 8:00 p.m. on the day of her disappearance. Reports indicate that she jumped out of a moving vehicle and later discarded her phone before fleeing on foot.

Authorities described Kritis-Garip as a white female, approximately 5 feet 7 inches in height and weighing around 140 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes, and was last observed wearing black trousers and a black jacket with a fur collar. Following her sudden departure from the car, her husband, Fernando Garip, expressed deep concern for her safety, emphasising the need for public assistance in the search.

“We’ve been scouring wooded and rural areas, as well as suburban locations, in our efforts,” Fernando Garip stated. He underscored the urgency of rallying community support, noting that the family is committed to finding her by whatever means necessary. “We’re going to continue this until she is safely home,” he affirmed.

To aid in the search efforts, the Nassau County Police Department has deployed helicopters and drones to expand their reach in locating Kritis-Garip. Multiple search teams have been mobilised, combing areas within East Norwich and Oyster Bay, where their last sighting occurred.
