Mother and 5 Kids, Including 9-Month-Old Baby, Identified as Victims of ‘Devastating’ House Fire

In a heartbreaking tragedy, a house fire in Clarksville, Ohio, has claimed the lives of a mother and her five young children. The victims, identified as Brooke Gordon, 34, and her children Zayden, 10, Hudson, 8, Ashton, 6, Bostyn, 2, and Tomlyn, just nine months old, died in the early hours of March 3. Their fiancé and father, Tommy Allen Jr., who managed to escape the inferno, is currently receiving treatment for significant injuries.

The horrifying incident occurred around 6:40 a.m., prompting a rapid response from local emergency services. According to officials from the Clinton County Emergency Management Agency, Allen Jr. was the only survivor and was quickly transported to a nearby medical facility.

In the aftermath of the fire, which has left a deep void in the community, a GoFundMe page was established by family friend Pamela Hauck. In her appeal, Hauck described the event as an unimaginable tragedy that has profoundly affected everyone who knew the family. “Tragedy struck the Clarksville, Ohio community when a devastating house fire claimed the lives of six family members,” she wrote.

Hauck highlighted the emotional toll on Allen Jr., who now faces the dual burden of mourning his loved ones while grappling with the challenges of recovery. Funds raised through the GoFundMe Campaign, which has garnered over £57,000 to date, will go towards funeral costs for the victims and assist Allen Jr. in securing housing and meeting essential needs during his recovery process. The campaign has set a target of £90,000.

Reflecting on her relationship with the family, Hauck shared fond memories of gatherings and celebrations they had enjoyed together. “They’ve been to birthday parties at my house. They swam in my pool. They are my two grandchildren’s only cousins,” she remarked, expressing her grief over the loss.

Brooke Gordon was remembered as a devoted and loving mother, with Hauck stating, “I’ve never seen as good a mama to that many children as Brooke. She was fabulous.” The community is rallying together to honour the memory of the deceased and support the lone survivor during this challenging time.

The fire has also impacted the local school community, with officials from Clinton-Massie Local Schools confirming that three of the victims were students in the district. The district released a statement acknowledging the profound effect this tragedy has on both families and the wider community. “We know that tragedy affects not only families, but also classmates, staff members, and the broader community,” the statement read.

As the investigation into the fire’s cause and origin progresses, it was reported that several firefighters sustained injuries while responding to the blaze. Thomas Breckel, the director of the Clinton County EMA, noted the nature of the fire complicated the efforts of the emergency personnel. “Because of the breadth of the fire and also the structural fragility and degradation of the house at the time, they were unable to make it up the steps,” he explained.
