At around 8:30 a.m. local time, 78-year-old Michael Day was walking his dog, Messi, in the suburb of Hamersley when he was struck by lightning. Paramedics from St John WA Ambulance attended the scene and transported Day to the hospital with serious injuries. Unfortunately, Messi did not survive and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Karen Day, Michael’s daughter, shared the family’s shock and concern over the incident.
