Reuben Carter Freeman, a safety supervisor at Vallejo High School, has been taken into custody on suspicion of withholding a student’s phone in exchange for sexual favours and confining her in a classroom. The arrest occurred on Tuesday, December 16, sparking concerns within the school community.

Freeman, aged 36, was apprehended following accusations of taking possession of a student’s phone and attempting to coerce sexual acts from her in return for returning the device. The incident unfolded at Vallejo High School, located in Vallejo, California, prompting a response from law enforcement at around 3:04 p.m. on the aforementioned date, according to a press release from the Vallejo Police Department.
Upon being identified as the individual in question, Freeman reportedly absconded from the campus upon learning that the authorities had been alerted. Subsequently, he was located by the police in close proximity to the school premises and taken into custody without further incident.
Following a thorough investigation, it was found that Freeman forcibly took the student’s phone and used it as leverage to coerce her into complying with his demands. The student was allegedly held against her will in a classroom, where Freeman proceeded to solicit sexual acts from her before ultimately allowing her to leave after some of his demands were met.
Freeman was subsequently charged with multiple offences, including soliciting lewd acts in public, false imprisonment, and robbery, as per the Vallejo Police Department. In response to the incident, Vallejo Police Chief Jason Ta emphasized the department’s commitment to ensuring student safety on school grounds, stating that prompt and resolute action would be taken in instances of concerning behaviour.
Efforts to reach out to both the Vallejo Police Department and Vallejo High School for comment have been made, while individuals with any relevant information are encouraged to contact Officer Brad Bermann via phone or email. As the case unfolds, stakeholders and members of the community remain vigilant in upholding accountability and safeguarding the well-being of students and staff within educational environments.
The incident involving Reuben Carter Freeman serves as a stark reminder of the importance of upholding stringent safety measures within educational institutions. Ensuring the protection and well-being of students should always be a top priority, and instances of alleged misconduct must be addressed swiftly to maintain a secure learning environment for all individuals involved.
