A man has come forward to assert that he had no part in his wife’s alleged involvement in a deadly dating app scheme. The woman, identified as Aurora Phelps, was recently charged in a 21-count superseding indictment over the scheme, which authorities claim led to at least three deaths between July 2021 and December 2022. The husband, William Phelps, spoke out, denying any knowledge or complicity in his wife’s alleged crimes.
According to authorities, Aurora Phelps is accused of running a “romance scam on steroids,” involving wire fraud, mail fraud, bank fraud, identity theft, kidnapping, and kidnapping resulting in death.
