Man Accused of Coercing Teen Girl to Self-Harm on Livestream Threatening Doxxing

A distressing incident has come to light involving a young girl and a man allegedly coercing her to harm herself on a livestream under the threat of doxxing. Marek Cherkaoui, a 21-year-old from New Jersey, is facing severe federal cyberstalking charges for his alleged actions towards a 13-year-old girl. Prosecutors claim that Cherkaoui is linked to a network of “nihilistic violent extremists” with the aim of instigating chaos and societal collapse.
Recent reports indicate that Marek Cherkaoui was apprehended at his residence in Egg Harbor Township, located in close proximity to Atlantic City. The charges against him stem from two grievous incidents where a 13-year-old girl purportedly engaged in self-harm following threats made by Cherkaoui to expose her personal information online, or dox her.
According to official filings from the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, the young girl resorted to cutting herself after Cherkaoui’s menacing demands, which she feared would result in her family being targeted if disclosed online. Despite blocking Cherkaoui initially, the girl was coerced once more to harm herself, this time live on camera, as instructed by the alleged perpetrator.
In a harrowing account detailed in the complaint, the girl recounted following a link to Cherkaoui’s livestream channel, where she proceeded to self-harm under his instruction. Subsequently, she took measures to sever all contact with Cherkaoui by closing all her accounts. However, Cherkaoui reportedly proceeded to reveal personal details about her and her family, exposing private information about their identities and addresses.
The allegations further suggest that Cherkaoui is associated with a group of individuals identified as “nihilistic violent extremists,” believed to engage in criminal activities with the overarching goal of destabilising society and inducing chaos. Cherkaoui’s purported online behaviour included celebrating unverified claims of individuals committing self-harm as a result of his influence within the network.
In addition to the charges related to cyberstalking, Cherkaoui faces accusations of soliciting illicit material from minors and expressing disturbing viewpoints targeting minority groups. The complaint references instances where Cherkaoui allegedly made derogatory remarks about minority communities and advocated for acts of violence against vulnerable populations.
Cherkaoui is currently in custody in Philadelphia as legal proceedings against him progress.
