Central Perk Coffeehouse is officially making its way to New York City’s Times Square, scheduled to open its doors on December 5. This iconic establishment will offer a contemporary twist on the beloved café from the hit TV show “Friends,” which originally captured audiences in the heart of New York City.

Located at 20 Times Square, the new Central Perk Coffeehouse promises a reimagined design and atmosphere, with the creative input of Top Chef judge Tom Colicchio and renowned architects Glen & Co. The café’s modern look will feature expansive windows and updated décor while still paying homage to the nostalgic charm of the original Friends hangout spot.
Fans of the iconic sitcom can expect to see references to the show throughout the establishment, including artwork by pop artist Burton Morris, known for his vibrant pieces that were featured in numerous episodes of Friends. The combination of modern aesthetics and classic nods to the show’s setting will surely appeal to visitors and locals alike.
In addition to its unique design, Central Perk Coffeehouse will introduce two new signature beverages for its grand opening in New York City. Among these creations is “The One with NYC Matcha,” a delicious layered iced matcha latte blended with oat milk, strawberry purée, and topped with a creamy cold foam. Another standout is the “NY Relaxi Taxi Tall Iced Cooler,” a refreshing mix of lemonade, iced green tea, lavender syrup, and sparkling water.
The café’s food menu will not disappoint either, with a range of delectable options inspired by the show’s characters. One highlight is “The Tribbiani,” a sandwich crafted by Tom Colicchio in tribute to Joey Tribbiani, featuring a mouth-watering combination of prosciutto, soppressata, provolone, and more on semolina hero bread. Other menu items include Joey’s Meatball Sandwich and Mama’s Little Bakery Cheesecake.
Expressing his excitement for the project, Tom Colicchio shared, “Food has always been about bringing people together, and that’s exactly what Central Perk represents.” He noted that creating “The Tribbiani” sandwich was a nod to the world of Friends while offering a delicious option that New Yorkers will surely appreciate.
The original Friends series, starring Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, and Matt LeBlanc, aired from 1994 to 2004 and continues to attract new fans even today. With the café’s opening in the bustling Times Square area, fans of the show can now experience a piece of its iconic charm right in the heart of New York City’s vibrant atmosphere.
