Guns N’ Roses found themselves in the spotlight recently as a video of frontman Axl Rose kicking the band’s drum kit in frustration went viral. The incident occurred during a performance in Argentina and sparked speculation among fans and media outlets.

The rock band took to their Instagram Stories on October 22 to provide an explanation for Rose’s actions. According to the band’s statement, Rose, who is 63, was facing technical difficulties during their show in Buenos Aires on October 18. The statement revealed that there was an issue with Rose’s in-ear monitor pack, which resulted in him hearing only the percussion instead of his full mix during the opening song. Fortunately, the problem was rectified by the tech team by the third song, and the band went on to have a successful night.
It was clarified by Guns N’ Roses that Rose’s frustration was not aimed at the drummer, Isaac Carpenter, who had joined the band in March following Frank Ferrer’s departure. The band made it clear that the technical glitch was the cause of Rose’s outburst and not a reflection of Carpenter’s abilities as a drummer.
In a video that circulated on social media, Rose can be seen visibly upset as he performs the band’s hit song “Welcome to the Jungle”. In a moment of frustration, he kicks Carpenter’s drums and throws his microphone before leaving the stage abruptly. Despite his actions, Rose tried to reassure the crowd by saying, “So, I’ll just try and wing this,” indicating the technical difficulties he was facing.
Ferrer’s departure from Guns N’ Roses after 19 years was announced in March, and Carpenter was introduced as his replacement shortly after. The transition was described as “amicable”, with the band expressing their best wishes for Ferrer’s future musical endeavors. In response, Ferrer also expressed his gratitude towards Axl and the band, despite his disappointment over the chapter coming to a close.
Guns N’ Roses is currently on the Latin American leg of their tour, titled ‘Because What You Want & What You Get Are Two Completely Different Things Tour’, which is scheduled to continue until November 8. The band is known for their energetic performances and loyal fanbase, and despite the recent incident, they continue to rock stages around the world.
As the band navigates through the ups and downs of touring and live performances, it’s evident that technical difficulties can sometimes lead to unexpected outbursts. However, Guns N’ Roses’ ability to address the situation openly and move forward demonstrates their professionalism and dedication to delivering unforgettable performances to their fans.
