Carson Daly is set to take on an expanded role as the co-anchor of Saturday Today, marking a significant development in his career at NBC. The announcement was made during the morning news segment led by co-host Jenna Bush Hager, and Daly’s new position will officially commence on Saturday, November 7.

Daly will join Laura Jarrett as co-anchor on the weekend edition of Today. Jarrett has been steadily holding down the Saturday slot since 2023, supported by features anchor Joe Fryer and meteorologist Angie Lassman. Savannah Guthrie, one of the show’s prominent anchors, expressed her delight at the news, stating, “Carson Daly is now the official co-anchor of Saturday Today! He is like a brother to me.”

In her remarks, Guthrie praised Daly’s unique ability to enhance the dynamics of the programme, likening him to “salt and pepper on a meal” for the way he enriches every segment in which he appears. Daly, visibly moved by the warm reception, conveyed his gratitude for the opportunity, emphasising the significance of this role at this stage of his career.

At 53 years old, Daly reflected on his extensive experience in television, considering this new contract a remarkable opportunity to build upon his skills and contribute to the show in new ways. He expressed eagerness to learn alongside Jarrett, saying, “I’ve been very lucky to have a lot of TV gigs. But this one’s really special…It’s not something I take lightly.”
Daly’s transition to co-anchor comes after the departure of Peter Alexander, who resigned from the Saturday role in March, following two decades with NBC. This change allows Daly to diversify his responsibilities within the NBC family, maintaining his weekday presence on Today while simultaneously fulfilling his duties as host and executive producer of The Voice.
The NBC reality singing competition series has been a mainstay since its inception in 2011. Daly is expected to play a critical role in the production of upcoming editions, including a new series titled The Voice: Celebrity, which is set to premiere in 2027 with Keke Palmer as the host.
Having joined Today in 2013, Daly initially helmed the show’s Orange Room—focusing on digital content and social media. Over the years, he has evolved into a prominent figure, particularly known for his “Pop Start” segment, where he discusses light-hearted pop culture events.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Daly is also a mental health advocate. He has openly shared his personal experiences with anxiety, underscoring the importance of mental wellness. His commitment to this cause is exemplified through his work on the Board of Directors for Project Healthy Minds, a nonprofit organisation dedicated to mental health advocacy.
Daly shares his life with his wife Siri, with whom he has four children. The family dynamics, intertwined with his busy broadcasting career, play a significant role in his life, and he often expresses gratitude for the support he receives from loved ones.
As Dolly embarks on this new chapter with Saturday Today, he remains focused on continuing his engagement with audiences throughout the week, ensuring that his presence is felt across the spectrum of NBC’s programming. With a commitment to fostering a familial atmosphere within the Today family, Daly’s return to the weekend line-up is anticipated to be both enjoyable and impactful for viewers.
