Caroline Vidmar, a notable participant from the latest season of the reality show Survivor 47, recently exchanged vows with her long-term partner, Austin Young, during a charming ceremony held at Monserate Winery in Fallbrook, California. The couple tied the knot on Halloween, 31st October, amidst a joyous gathering of 150 family members and friends, several of whom were fellow contestants from the show.

The wedding exuded an atmosphere of whimsy, perfectly reflecting the couple’s desire to celebrate both the autumn season in California and the enchanting essence of an Italian vineyard. With an array of vibrant pink hues and playful décor, the event aimed to encapsulate a lively and festive spirit. Guests were encouraged to dress in formal attire, but the fun didn’t stop there; costumes were provided for the Halloween-themed afterparty.
Vidmar, 29, explained that the choice of date was somewhat serendipitous. “Getting married on Halloween has become our favourite happy coincidence,” she reflected, noting that their attraction to Monserate Winery was instantaneous. They visited only that one venue and immediately fell in love with it. Despite Halloween being the only available Saturday in the fall, they welcomed the opportunity, saying it made the experience even more special.

The couple aimed to infuse elements of surprise and amusement into their wedding festivities. Vidmar created an entertaining trick-or-treating game for the welcome party, inviting guests to engage in a “find the guest” bingo challenge, with candy rewards for participants. This creative concept culminated in a riddle that led to a final prize of Italian candles. Such personal touches showcased their desire to create a unique and memorable celebration for everyone involved.
As Vidmar made her way down the aisle, she wore an elegant dress by Monique Lhuillier, while Young complemented her look in a tailored Michael Kors tuxedo. A heartfelt custom piano rendition of “In My Life” by The Beatles set the scene; this song holds sentimental value for the couple, as it was frequently shared between them during their early relationship.
In a touching nod to her family’s tradition, Vidmar wore her mother’s wedding veil, which interestingly featured lace that matched her own wedding dress. “It felt surreal that we separately chose an almost identical lace for our wedding day 30 years apart,” she expressed, highlighting the deep-rooted connection to family history.
Once the couple exchanged vows, guests were treated to the winery’s inaugural wedding guest wine tasting during cocktails, paired with a unique caviar service. The evening meal offered delectable options, with guests selecting either braised boneless short rib or sesame-crusted tuna steak. Engaged attendees received celebratory Ring Pops at their place settings alongside a personal note from the bride and groom, expressing their excitement for the future journeys of their fellow couples.
Dessert options included a classic vanilla bean wedding cake adorned with whipped cream frosting, complemented by an assortment of lemon bars, millionaire bars, and chocolate chip cookies — a selection that added a personal touch to the sweet course.
Despite not having dreamt of their wedding day since childhood, Vidmar and Young found the celebration to be a culmination of over 12 years of relationship memories and experiences. Their shared journey began as friends in high school, igniting a romance that blossomed through shared experiences like Model U.N. conferences, ultimately leading to college at UC Berkeley.
Young’s romantic proposal took place during a surprise trip to Laguna Niguel, capturing the essence of the cliffs that reminded them of their hometown of Palos Verdes. Reflecting on their long-standing partnership, Vidmar remarked, “It’s surreal that we’ve been with each other for almost half of our lives. We’re so grateful to have grown up together and become even closer over these past 12 and a half years.”
As they embark on this new chapter of their lives, Vidmar shared her enthusiasm: “We’ve been each other’s life partners for such a long time, and we’re thrilled to officially become family.” This sentiment not only highlights their profound connection but also the excitement of building a future together.
The couple’s wedding was beautifully orchestrated with the help of an array of vendors, including planning and design by thatBliss Weddings and floral arrangements by Bethany Anne Design. As they step into married life, the couple’s shared history adds a rich layer to their story, one that continues to unfold in the years to come.
