The popular talent show “Dancing with the Stars” is set to add a dazzling Broadway flair to its annual Disney Night in the upcoming episode scheduled for November 2. Celebrated for combining showmanship with dance, the ABC series promises an extra magical evening featuring performances inspired by iconic Disney films and their stage adaptations.

This exciting episode, unlike its usual Tuesday airing, will take place on a Monday night to accommodate Election Day, ensuring that fans can still enjoy a night of entertainment amidst the voting activities. The episode will unveil a series of electrifying routines from the eight remaining couples, who will draw inspiration from beloved Disney stories transformed into Broadway spectacles.

Joining the judging panel for this special occasion will be talented Broadway actress and Tony Award winner Heather Headley, alongside regular judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli. Adding to the expert panel, Cynthia Erivo, known for her incredible work in “Wicked,” will also lend her expertise and keen eye to evaluate the contestants’ performances throughout the night.
This year’s Disney Night will reinstate the fan-favourite team dances, allowing couples to collaborate on two lively group performances. The first team, dubbed Team Slaytopia, will feature host Alfonso Ribeiro and include talents such as Tatyana Ali, Maura Higgins, Mark Ballas, and Amber Glenn, to name a few. They aim to bring the funk with their routine set to “Zoo” from the upcoming movie “Zootopia 2.”
On the other hand, Team Wildcats, led by host Julianne Hough, consists of dancers such as Harry Shum Jr. and Jenna Dewan, who will harmonise their moves to “We’re All in This Together” from the beloved musical “High School Musical.” The anticipation for these collaborations offers a thrilling glimpse of what fans can expect during the show.
Among the dazzling performances, Amber Glenn and her partner Pasha Pashkov will take to the stage with a quickstep to “A Star Is Born” from the animated classic “Hercules.” Glenn has fully embraced the Halloween spirit, showing up in rehearsal dressed as her partner, capturing the fun atmosphere surrounding the rehearsals.
Maura Higgins and Mark Ballas have a whimsical jive lined up, dancing to “You Can Fly! You Can Fly! You Can Fly!” from “Peter Pan.” Their partnership, known as Team Tink, brings a personal touch to the performance, reflecting Higgins’ natural tendency to “overtink” as she learns their choreography.
In an exciting twist, Tatyana Ali and Jan Ravnik’s contemporary piece will be performed to “Easy As Life” from the musical “Aida,” with Headley singing live. Ali has already teased her fans about the emotional journey of this performance, promising it will be a highlight of the night.
Additionally, bringing some enchanting vibes, Jenna Johnson and Harry Shum Jr. will perform a jazz routine featuring the iconic song “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” from “Mary Poppins,” also sung live, this time by Broadway star Kyra Belle Johnson. The preparation for the performance demonstrates their commitment to excellence.
Ezra Frech and Daniella Karagach are ready to make a splash with a lively samba to “Under the Sea” from “The Little Mermaid,” with the delightful accompaniment of Broadway performer Michael James Scott. Frech has expressed his enthusiasm through social media, hinting at a show-stopping number.
As they showcase their interpretation of “Satisfied” from “Hamilton,” Julia Stiles and Ezra Sosa will undoubtedly bring their flair to the paso doble. Stiles has publicly celebrated her partnership, praising Sosa’s support throughout their journey on the dance floor.
Jenna Dewan and Val Chmerkovskiy will charm the audience with their quickstep routine to “Be Our Guest” from “Beauty and the Beast,” performed live by Broadway star Rodney Ingram. The performance will mark a reunion between Chmerkovskiy and former partner Sherri Shepherd, who is renowned for her role as the Genie in “Aladdin” on Broadway.
Lastly, Connor Wood and Rylee Arnold are expected to mesmerise viewers with a waltz to “I See the Light” from “Tangled,” also backed by Headley’s captivating vocals. Wood’s confidence is burgeoning as he prepares for both individual and group performances, signalling a night of magical moments and stunning dance.
As anticipation builds for this Broadway-inspired Disney Night of “Dancing with the Stars,” fans can look forward to an evening filled with entertainment, emotion, and unforgettable performances that will undoubtedly celebrate the magic of Disney in a unique theatrical light.
