**Christopher Lloyd Remembers Royal Encounter with Princess Diana at Premiere of Back to the Future Part III**
Christopher Lloyd, celebrated for his role as Doc Brown in the iconic Back to the Future trilogy, has shared an enchanting memory from the past. During a recent appearance on *Jimmy Kimmel Live!*, the 88-year-old actor reminisced about meeting Princess Diana at the London premiere of *Back to the Future Part III* in 1990.

The film marked the concluding chapter of the beloved series, where Lloyd’s character finds himself stuck in the year 1885, pursued by Buford “Mad Dog” Tannen, portrayed by Thomas F. Wilson. Meanwhile, Michael J. Fox’s Marty McFly makes a daring journey back in time to rescue Doc Brown, who has fallen in love with Clara Clayton, played by Mary Steenburgen.
Lloyd recounted how, while he was already in Europe filming another project, he received an invitation to the premiere. Curiously, Fox was unable to attend, resulting in Lloyd being propelled into the spotlight. He recalled meeting Princess Diana while waiting in line for the film screening, a moment that he described as both surprising and memorable.
In his reflections, Lloyd acknowledged Princess Diana’s remarkable presence. “She deserved to be a princess,” he remarked, expressing his admiration for her stature and warmth. Their interaction further deepened as they sat together during the film, leading Kimmel to ask whether Diana enjoyed it. Lloyd responded, “I think she did,” and went on to reveal what particularly delighted her: a humorous scene where Wilson’s character tumbles into a cart filled with manure. “For her, it was the biggest laugh of the movie,” Lloyd said, reflecting on the genuine humanity of the late princess.
Diana, known for frequently attending film premieres throughout the 1980s and 1990s, was a familiar face at events like the 1984 premiere of *Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom* and the 1989 screening of *When Harry Met Sally*. She had also attended the London premiere of the first *Back to the Future* film in 1985, showcasing her interest in the magic of cinema.
This month, Lloyd released a memoir titled *In My Own Time*, where he offers insights into his life, career, and reflections on the past. When discussing regrets, he noted, “I don’t think about that a lot. I feel good about the way things have gone.” His career has spanned decades, with iconic roles not just in *Back to the Future* but also in classics such as *Taxi* and *The Addams Family*.
Lloyd retains strong connections with his co-stars from the sitcom *Taxi*. He spoke fondly of how Marilu Henner serves as the “den mother,” organising reunions with fellow cast members, including Danny DeVito, Judd Hirsch, Tony Danza, and Carol Kane. “There is no other cast that gets together as often as we do, the Taxi cast,” he proudly declared, highlighting the enduring bonds formed during their time together.
Even at his advanced age, Lloyd remains passionate about acting and is on the lookout for new roles. “I want to get a script with another part that I feel I can fulfil,” he shared, underscoring his undiminished enthusiasm for his craft. He added with a twinkle of humour, “So I worry a little bit that there might be a great role for me, old fart guy, but they decide, ‘No, no, not Lloyd. He’s 88. He’s liable to drop dead on the set.’”
*In My Own Time* is now available for readers, offering insights into Lloyd’s vibrant life and career. As one of Hollywood’s most beloved figures, Lloyd continues to inspire fans with his enthusiasm and rich memories, including his cherished encounter with Princess Diana at a pivotal moment in cinematic history.
