Tyrann Mathieu, the former safety for the New Orleans Saints, and his wife, Kandra, have announced that they are expecting their third child together. This new addition will be Tyrann’s sixth child overall. According to a representative for the couple, they are set to welcome their little one in January, potentially sharing a birthday with Tyrann’s 13-year-old son, Noah.

The couple already has two children: Zaide, aged 15 months, and Zaiden, who is two years old. Additionally, Tyrann has three older children from a previous relationship, namely Tyrann Jr., aged 12, and Mila, aged 6, with his former partner Sydni Paige Russell, along with Noah, who he co-parents with Megan Edwards.
Kandra shared with PEOPLE how they discovered the pregnancy. After a family beach holiday this summer, she felt unusually fatigued and joked with relatives about possibly being pregnant. Upon returning home, a pregnancy test ultimately confirmed their suspicions. “I slept pretty much the entire week, and once we got home, we started joking with our family and friends that I might be pregnant. Sure enough, we took a test, and I was!” she recounted.

Despite the joyful news, Kandra playfully noted that their friends and family might not share the same enthusiasm for another pregnancy announcement. “In 2024, I was pregnant alongside four of my friends, and in 2025, I was pregnant at the same time as six of Tyrann’s family members,” she explained. “So a third year in a row? Nobody wants to catch the pregnancy bug this time.”
Describing her experience with this pregnancy, Kandra revealed that it felt markedly different from her previous two. While she has been indulging in typical pregnancy cravings such as cooked food, ice, and fruit, she noted a significant increase in symptoms this time. “This pregnancy has been really different, though. With my first two, I didn’t experience sickness or many symptoms at all, but this time I was extremely sick and nauseous for the first two months,” she said. “I practically felt bedridden at times, so it was definitely an adjustment.”
Kandra and Tyrann are keeping the sex of their baby and potential names under wraps for now, but they expressed their excitement about expanding their family. “We’re so excited to welcome another little one,” Kandra remarked. “Babies have such a beautiful way of reminding you of the kindness in the world and the purity in everyday life.”

She also shared her joy in witnessing the sibling connections that develop among their children. “One of our favourite things has been watching the bonds the younger children have formed with their older siblings, and we are so excited to experience that all over again,” she added.
Interestingly, the newborn is expected to arrive close to Noah’s birthday, which has sparked excitement among the children. “He was so excited when he realised there was a chance he could have a birthday twin!” Kandra noted. The couple’s enthusiasm for the new arrival suggests a close-knit family dynamic, with Kandra anticipating the new baby’s seamless integration into their family unit.
With this latest announcement, the Mathieus are gearing up for a busy and joyful time ahead as they prepare to welcome another child into their lives. The couple’s commitment to family and the connections they cherish among their children reflect their optimistic outlook as they embrace the challenges and joys that come with expanding their family.
