**Kim Kardashian Reflects on Co-Parenting Challenges with Kanye West**

In a revealing discussion in the biography *Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future*, Kim Kardashian has opened up about her complex co-parenting relationship with her former husband, Kanye West. Co-authored by Jonathan Van Meter, the book features Kardashian’s insights into her family dynamics as she navigates raising her four children with the artist, despite the often tumultuous terrain of their past.
Kardashian, now 46, candidly acknowledged that her communication with West, who is 49, is frequently facilitated through his wife, Bianca Censori, or his manager, illustrating a dynamic that has made parenting both challenging and unique. She admitted to fabricating stories about West’s whereabouts to protect their children’s perception of their father. “It is challenging co-parenting with someone who comes by every few months, but I’m always like, ‘Oh, Dad’s travelling,’” she shared. “I still make up stories and protect [the kids] because I want them to think their dad is the greatest.”

The couple shares four children—North, 13; Saint, 10; Chicago, 8; and Psalm, 7. In an effort to create a supportive environment, Kardashian invited West to family gatherings, including Christmas celebrations. “Last Christmas, I said, ‘Sleep over on Christmas Eve. Bring your girlfriend. I’m easy! Let’s all do Christmas together,’” Kardashian recounted. “And I’ll recommend it again this year. I will sweep everything under the rug, all the horrible things he has said about me, so that the kids can see their father.”
When asked about the frequency of their children’s interactions with West, Kardashian offered a somewhat playful response, suggesting that curious individuals could “Google it” due to the public nature of West’s appearances. She reminded her audience that these outings are often documented due to the fame surrounding their family.
Despite the difficulties, Kardashian expressed a deep concern for West’s wellbeing, calling it a “big burden.” She clarified her feelings, stating, “Oh, I worry about him all day. That’s the father of my kids. I’ll never not worry about him.” This sentiment exemplifies the emotional challenges that can accompany co-parenting, particularly when the parents’ relationship is strained. Kardashian emphasised her commitment to safeguarding her children from negativity, asserting, “My kids would never know that.”
In her reflections, Kardashian noted that her co-parenting journey has become “pretty smooth” over time, although their communication remains limited. There are moments of warmth when they do see each other, as she revealed, “But when we see each other, we give each other a hug. I’m really close with his family.” She prides herself on maintaining an open-door policy, inviting West and his family to visit and spend time with the children.
However, Kardashian also confronted the harsh reality of the situation, suggesting that the development of a more harmonious relationship with West may not be in the cards. “But the constant worry, yeah,” she lamented. “He always seems to pick himself up… and out of something, but it does make me so sad. And I don’t think it’s going to get better. I pray it does. For my kids.”
This poignant insight into the Kardashian-West family dynamic offers a glimpse into the complexities of modern co-parenting, particularly when public notoriety exacerbates private struggles. Kardashian’s commitment to her children’s wellbeing while attempting to foster positive relationships highlights both the challenges and triumphs faced by many divorced parents striving for balance in their lives.
