According to police reports, the woman was flagged down by the suspects while they were seated in a newer-model silver Jeep Compass, which had its hood raised, a typical sign of vehicle malfunction. The men requested her assistance to jumpstart their car. However, the situation rapidly escalated when one of the men brandished a firearm once she exited her vehicle, demanding her purse.
Witnesses report that the suspects made a swift getaway, fleeing southbound on 11th Street shortly after the robbery took place. The Philadelphia Police have since released surveillance footage captured during the incident in hopes of gleaning information from the public that could assist in identifying the perpetrators involved.

The male suspect who wielded the firearm is described as approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall and was dressed in a black jacket and black Adidas trousers featuring white stripes; he also wore a black mask concealing his face. His accomplice was noted as being around 5 feet 9 inches, sporting short dreadlocks and dressed in a black jacket and trousers.
This alarming robbery has garnered attention and raised safety concerns among local residents, particularly highlighting the potential dangers in offering assistance to strangers. Mac Johnson, a resident of the Hunting Park neighbourhood, voiced his concerns, stating, “That’s where society becomes unbalanced because you can’t even do the right thing. You’ve got to question, you know, me giving you a bottle of water, are you going to stick me up?”
Authorities are urging anyone who may have seen the suspects or have relevant information regarding the incident to come forward. They have advised the public not to approach the suspects if spotted but to contact emergency services immediately by dialling 911.
In their ongoing investigation, police are appealing to the community for assistance. Those with tips are encouraged to reach out to the Northwest Detective Division at 215-686-3353. Additionally, individuals wishing to remain anonymous can submit information via text at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
