WNBA athlete Angel Reese and NBA player Wendell Carter Jr. have confirmed their romantic relationship, much to the delight of their fans. The couple first sparked dating rumours in May 2025, when Carter was seen at Reese’s 23rd birthday party, and after a few months of speculation, they officially announced their relationship in November 2025.

Carter, who plays as a centre and forward for the Orlando Magic, confirmed the news during an interview on FanDuel TV’s “Run It Back.” When asked about Reese, he responded playfully, stating, “That’s the homie for sure. We’re locked in … y’all gonna find out when y’all need to find out,” before affectionately adding, “That’s my girl though.” Reese publicly acknowledged his declaration the following day, posting on Twitter, “Period homie.”

Since affirming their relationship, the pair have generally maintained privacy, though they continue to support each other’s sports careers. In December 2025, Reese caused a stir by posting a picture of herself in a customised Orlando Magic jersey that read “My Man,” while captioning it with the word “steady.” The following October, Carter was seen cheering for Reese during the WNBA Finals, illustrating their commitment to one another beyond the basketball court.
Carter’s basketball background is deeply rooted, coming from a family of athletes. His father, Wendell Carter Sr., played professionally in the Dominican Republic, and his mother, Lydia Carter, had an impressive collegiate career at the University of Mississippi. As a stellar student-athlete in high school at Pace Academy in Atlanta, he garnered attention for both his academic achievements and his prowess on the court.
After a successful single season at Duke University, where he made an impact by being named to the ACC all-freshmen team and earning multiple Rookie of the Week honours, Carter declared for the NBA Draft. His professional career began with the Chicago Bulls in July 2018, and he was subsequently traded to the Orlando Magic in March 2021, where he has continued to make significant contributions to the team.
The couple’s initial link came in July 2025, when Carter was spotted at the WNBA All-Star Game wearing a shirt emblazoned with Reese’s picture. Following this, Reese was frequently seen attending Magic games, fuelling further speculation about their relationship, which eventually led to their official announcement.
Beyond basketball, Carter is dedicated to philanthropic efforts. In March 2022, he co-founded the A Platform² Foundation with his family, aimed at helping youth and families engage in essential topics such as STEM education, financial literacy, and social justice. Their mission is to create a nurturing environment for communities, which has earned Carter recognition, including the Rich and Helen DeVos Community Enrichment Award in 2023 and the NBA Cares Bob Lanier Community Assist Award in 2025.
Interestingly, Carter’s aspirations were not always centred on basketball. As a child, he dreamt of becoming a pilot, influenced by his parents’ careers at an airport. In an interview, he reminisced about his first experience in a cockpit at a young age, stating that he vividly remembers the pilot’s explanations of flight instruments. Although he could not pursue a career in aviation due to height requirements, he remains passionate about the field. In support of this interest, Carter initiated an aviation curriculum at two high schools in Orlando, aiming to introduce students to potential opportunities in the aviation industry.
As Reese and Carter continue to navigate their respective careers while supporting one another, they embody the spirit of competitive sportsmanship and personal dedication. Their relationship serves as a prime example of how two athletes can balance their professional commitments and personal lives, fostering success on and off the court.
