Kevin “Noodles” Wasserman, the guitarist for iconic punk rock band The Offspring, has announced that he will be temporarily stepping away from live performances due to a serious health issue. The 63-year-old musician made the announcement via a heartfelt statement on Instagram on 21 October, revealing the challenges he is facing.

In his message, Noodles expressed his sadness over the decision, stating, “It is with deep sadness that I have to announce that I need to step away from live performances for a while to deal with a sudden and fairly serious health issue.” He emphasised the support of his bandmates, noting, “The rest of the band has my back, is super supportive, and will keep rocking you all in my absence.” Noodles closed his statement by thanking fans for their thoughts and support, highlighting the strong connection he feels with his audience.
Wasserman’s last performance with The Offspring took place on 18 October in San Diego, California. Despite his absence, the band plans to continue with their scheduled tour dates, with performances lined up for the immediate future, including a show in Los Angeles on 24 October. Fans can also look forward to a concert in Las Vegas on 6 November, as well as appearances at the Corona Capital festival in Mexico City on 21 November and the iHeartRadio ALTer Ego festival in Los Angeles on 16 January 2027.
The news of Noodles’ health concern has sparked an outpouring of support from both fans and fellow musicians. Notably, Pierre Bouvier from the band Simple Plan left a message of encouragement, saying, “Hope you’re ok brother. Sending love and positivity. You’re a legend…. You got this.” The heartfelt responses demonstrate the high regard in which Noodles is held in the music community.
Noodles has been a vital part of The Offspring since the band’s formation in 1984 in Garden Grove, California. With over four decades of experience, he has contributed to the band’s distinctive sound and style that has garnered a devoted fanbase. The band continues to thrive, with their most recent album, *Supercharged*, released in October 2024.
In a previous interview with PEOPLE, Noodles reflected on his enduring passion for performing and the joy it brings him, saying, “I’ve always been really appreciative of his [Dexter Holland’s] songwriting, and I love the time we spend in the studio, but then taking the songs out and playing them live for fans, that’s the greatest feeling in the world.” This sentiment underscores the dedication and commitment he has shown throughout his career.
The current line-up of The Offspring includes Noodles, lead vocalist Dexter Holland, bassist Todd Morse, multi-instrumentalist Jonah Nimoy, and drummer Brandon Pertzborn. The band has enjoyed a successful and influential career, frequently credited with helping to shape the punk rock genre over the years.
While Noodles takes the necessary time to recover, his absence will surely be felt by both the band and their fans. The Offspring’s ability to continue performing without their beloved guitarist demonstrates the group’s solidarity and commitment to their audience. As Wasserman focuses on his health, it is clear that both he and the rest of the band are eager for his return to the stage.
During this time, fans are encouraged to send their well-wishes to Noodles as he navigates his health challenges. Given the outpouring of support thus far, it is evident that he is not alone in this journey. The hope among supporters is that he will be back rocking onstage sooner rather than later, continuing his legacy with The Offspring and inspiring new generations of music lovers.
