In a recent YouTube video on her channel Chad & Erin, Bates opened up about her experiences and the methods she found effective for weight management. She was candid in stating that she is not a medical expert and emphasized that there is no universal solution to health and fitness. Instead, she discussed her personal journey and the practices that have worked for her.

Before discovering her “game changer” approach, Bates tried various diets, including the Keto diet, and engaged in different workout regimes, but none had the desired effect. “I was at a place where I was so discouraged just because I did not feel well,” said Bates, reflecting on her struggle. She described feelings of discomfort in her clothing, fatigue, and a general sense of not being herself.

A notable aspect of Bates’ weight loss journey is her decision to forgo GLP-1 injections, despite recognising their effectiveness for others. She expressed concerns about the side effects associated with such treatments, preferring to seek natural solutions instead. Bates revealed that her successful strategy involved a combination of a short-term carnivore diet and intermittent fasting.
“I worked less than I had over the past two years, and I lost weight so much faster,” Bates explained. The carnivore diet, which she described as a temporary solution, primarily consisted of meat, eggs, and dairy. Bates followed an eight-hour eating window each day, refraining from snacking and aiming to stop eating when she felt about 80% full.
In choosing her food, Bates made a conscious effort to invest in quality produce, opting for grass-fed meats while avoiding pork due to its impact on her digestion and potential toxin levels. Additionally, she incorporated a weekly 24-hour fast, during which she consumed only herbal teas and sugar-free electrolyte drinks. This fasting routine provided her with what she termed a “full-body reset.”
Bates noted a dramatic shift in her weight since she began her new lifestyle, stating, “It’s almost like the weight was falling off, and I was hardly doing anything to do that, which is crazy because I’d worked so hard to lose weight before.” Interestingly, she did not engage in structured workouts throughout this initial phase of her health journey.
Instead, Bates opted for simple activities like walking, which fit well into her busy life as a mother of seven. She would often take her two youngest children in a stroller while the others occupied themselves with rollerblading, making physical activity easy and enjoyable within her family routine.
After shedding 25 pounds, Bates began to incorporate regular exercise into her regimen. The effects of her lifestyle changes have been profoundly positive, extending beyond mere weight loss. “Right now I feel so much more energy than I’ve had in years,” she reported, highlighting improvements in her overall well-being. She now wakes up feeling rested and has experienced enhancements in her stamina and sleep quality.
The transition Bates has undergone serves as a reminder that health improvements can stem from tailored, sustainable changes rather than strict diets or intense workout regimes. Furthermore, she emphasised that the shift has positively impacted all areas of her life, showcasing the holistic benefits of her approach to health. Erin Bates’ story offers inspiration to others who may also be struggling on their paths to fitness and wellness.
