The narrative centres around Trina Vega, played by Daniella Monet, who returns to her former school after struggling to make a name for herself as an actress. Now donning the role of a substitute acting teacher, Trina seeks to impart her wisdom to a new generation of students while navigating the challenges of teaching and the occasional bout of chaos that arises from her interactions with them.
“Hollywood Arts” brings back some fan favourites from “Victorious,” including Principal Helen Dubois (Yvette Nicole Brown), Mr. Sikowitz (Eric Lange), and Robbie Shapiro (Matt Bennett). However, the series is primarily focused on introducing a fresh cast of characters, showcasing the talents of actors such as Alyssa Miles, Peyton Jackson, Martin Kamm, Emmy Liu-Wang, and Erika Swayze.

Martin Kamm takes on the role of Oscar Ward, a gifted actor who quickly becomes the centre of attention among his peers. His character is charming and confident, but underneath the surface lies a struggle with jealousy as he vies for the spotlight amidst competition from his own classmates, particularly Jen Z and Pepper, who both harbour crushes on him. Kamm has an array of previous experience, including roles in short films and series like “Kill Devil Hills” and “Web of Spider-Man.”
Peyton Jackson plays the character Qwest, a musician who maintains a facade to appease his parents. He deceives them into believing he is attending Hollywood Arts on a sports scholarship, knowing they would disapprove of his desire to pursue music at a performing arts school. Jackson has built a resume with appearances in productions such as “The Resident,” “Raising Dion,” and the Nickelodeon series “Young Dylan.”
In the role of Emmy Ward, we have Alyssa Miles, who is Oscar’s younger sister. Known as “Techie” at school for her exceptional skills in technology and app development, Emmy’s path to self-discovery is largely influenced by Trina. Realising her potential, Trina guides Emmy out from her brother’s shadow and encourages her to embrace her abilities. Miles is a recent graduate of Muhlenberg College, where she majored in dance and theatre, and has also appeared in short films and the mini-series “The Queen Bee Strikes Back.”
Emmy Liu-Wang portrays Pepper, Emmy’s spirited best friend and a competitive classmate. Often caught in a rivalry with Jen Z, Pepper is a talented performer but remains loyal to her friends. Liu-Wang previously appeared in the television film “The Slumber Party” and had notable roles in seasons five and six of “Raven’s Home.”
Rounding out the new cast is Erika Swayze, who plays Jen Z. Characterised by her ambition, Jen Z often finds herself in a competitive stance with her peers. Despite her sometimes icy demeanour, she ultimately strives to be a supportive friend. Swayze has experience from various shorts and television series, having featured in productions like “Davey & Jonesie’s Locker” and “School Spirits.”
As “Hollywood Arts” embarks on this new journey, audiences can anticipate a display of talent, growth, and the complexities of teenage life within the vibrant world of performing arts. The series promises to blend humour, drama, and heartfelt moments, appealing to both fans of “Victorious” and a new generation.
The show captures the essence of navigating personal friendships, rivalries, and self-identity, resonating with viewers who have ever experienced the trials and tribulations of adolescence. With its diverse cast and engaging storyline, “Hollywood Arts” is positioned to carve its own niche in the landscape of teen drama while honouring its Nickelodeon roots. As the series progresses, fans will undoubtedly be captivated by the evolving dynamics among the vibrant characters of Hollywood Arts High School.
