Dylan Dreyer, the well-known meteorologist from the Today show, has confirmed the finalisation of her divorce from ex-husband Brian Fichera. The announcement comes nearly three months after the couple first declared their separation in July 2025, following 12 years of marriage.

During a recent episode of her Parent Chat podcast, which aired on October 15th, Dreyer, aged 45, opened up about her life as a newly single parent. The separation marks a significant change in her personal life as she navigates raising their three sons—Calvin, 9, Ollie, 6, and Rusty, 5—with her ex-husband.

Dreyer revealed that one key aspect of her new routine is the presence of her mother, Linda, who has become a frequent visitor to her household. Linda has been staying with Dreyer for extended periods, offering her support both as a parent and a co-worker. Dreyer expressed her gratitude, stating, “I don’t know what I would do without having my mum here.” She acknowledged that having her mother assist with daily tasks—like managing school runs and cleaning up—has been indispensable during this transitional phase.

Although Linda does not live in close proximity to her daughter, she is able to stay with Dreyer for various lengths of time. Describing the arrangement, Dreyer explained, “I’m blessed that my mum is retired, and she can stay with me and kind of give up her life back home for a little while.” Linda herself, despite expressing discomfort about being in the public eye, participated in the podcast, discussing how the logistics of the arrangement work.
During the episode, Linda shared her enjoyment of spending time with her daughter and grandsons, although she expressed some discontent over the distance between them, saying, “I just kind of wish it wasn’t so far away so I could run home for another couple of days here and there.” Flying long distances is not her preferred mode of travel, which adds to her desire for more frequent visits.
Dreyer noted that the situation has led to a strengthening of their bond over time. “I feel like we’ve gotten closer in the last couple of years,” she reflected. “You’ve been here for me in a way that I never would have asked you otherwise.” The new dynamic in their relationship revolves around mutual support and assistance during Dreyer’s challenging juggling act of being a full-time working mother.
Despite the adjustments, Linda mentioned that she has been impressed by how Dreyer manages her multiple responsibilities. However, Linda did voice some concern about her daughter’s wellbeing, mentioning, “Sometimes I think maybe you take on too much,” hinting at the challenges that come with balancing career and family life.
In the aftermath of her split from Fichera, Dreyer has been candid about her priorities. During a previous appearance on Today, she shared her thoughts on her children’s emotional needs in light of the divorce. “First and foremost, the kids have to feel love and they have to be happy,” she noted, emphasising the importance of their father remaining involved in their lives. She reinforced the idea that both parents have a role to play, saying, “They need both the dynamic of a father and a mother. We’re providing that to them in the best way possible.”
As Dreyer adjusts to her new life, she is determined to ensure that her children are shielded from any negative impact stemming from the changes around them. The combination of familial support and prioritising her children’s happiness appears to be helping her navigate this challenging period.
With the support of her mother, and a focus on the wellbeing of her children, Dreyer is forging ahead into this new chapter of her life, continuing to balance her professional commitments with her responsibilities as a mother.
