The announcement was made on 12th October during New York Bridal Fashion Week, where the collection was showcased on the runway. Dog models strutting their stuff captured the audience’s attention, flaunting ready-to-wear bridal gowns specifically tailored for pooches. In addition, some mini replicas of human bridal gowns custom-made by David’s Bridal were also featured, adding an extra touch of glamour to the event.

In a statement regarding the collection, CEO Kelly Cook highlighted the significance of pets within the family unit, particularly on momentous occasions like weddings. “As a proud basset hound mum, I know they are family,” she remarked. “The dog has always been the most loyal member of the wedding party — and frankly, the worst dressed. Those days are over with the Puppy Love Collection.” David’s aims to ensure that pets no longer miss out on looking their best on the big day.

The Puppy Love Collection includes more than just gowns and tuxedos. It offers a range of coordinating accessories, such as bow ties and bandanas, for pets expected to play the roles of ring bearers or guests of honour. The dresses and tuxedos provide pet owners with a chance to express their love for their furry companions in a way that complements their own wedding attire.
Kelly Cook noted with a sprinkle of humour, “I can’t promise they won’t steal the spotlight, but at least they’ll be dressed for it!” Evidently, the creation of this collection stems from David’s commitment to inclusivity, ensuring that all members of the family can celebrate together, including four-legged friends.
Moreover, the company is set to offer alterations and customisation options for these pet garments, allowing for bespoke tailoring that aligns with the couple’s wedding theme. “We can create custom attire for any pet, drawing inspiration from a David’s gown or another designer’s look,” explained a spokesperson for David’s Bridal. This showcases the brand’s flexibility and dedication to meeting the needs of pet-loving couples.
The timing of the collection coincides with a growing trend among couples to involve their pets in wedding ceremonies. A survey conducted by the online pet marketplace Rover reported that 81 per cent of engaged or soon-to-be engaged pet owners planned to include their pets in their wedding celebrations, although only 44 per cent have successfully done so.
The desire to have pets as part of the wedding festivities reflects the changing attitudes towards pets, with many considering them as integral family members. David’s Bridal aims to facilitate these connections through its new collection, allowing pets to take part in significant moments and family portraits during wedding celebrations.
Overall, the launch of the Puppy Love Collection marks a significant step in the wedding industry, celebrating the bond between couples and their pets. With customisable options and eye-catching outfits available, David’s Bridal is clearly committed to ensuring that no pet feels left out on one of the most important days of their human companions’ lives.
