The incident took place on Monday, October 12, when authorities were alerted to a disturbing situation at the Great Wolf Lodge in the Pocono Mountains. At approximately 3:15 PM, Harrison made a distressing 911 call during which she expressed feelings of hopelessness, stating, “I don’t want to be here anymore” and requesting “help dying.” According to a probable cause affidavit, she revealed that her husband, Charles Harrison, and their young son were unresponsive in their guest room.

First responders arrived at the lodge to find a tragic scene. Charles Harrison was discovered with multiple stab wounds to his chest, while their son had a single stab wound. Both were located on separate mattresses on the floor of the family’s room. Authorities reported the recovery of two teal-green handled knives, which were confirmed by lodge staff not to belong to the resort.

During the initial police investigation, it was noted that the woman had cuts on her wrists and neck. Officers took her into custody after she reportedly stated a desire to be with her deceased family. While being transported to the hospital, she made alarming declarations, saying, “I f—ed up” and lamenting the loss of what she had hoped would be a happy family life.
Metallica Harrison’s family checked into the Great Wolf Lodge on September 21 and had extended their stay shortly before the incident, with plans to check out on October 13. Surveillance footage revealed that the family had entered their guest room together the evening before the fatal event. Later, the couple was seen leaving for a short time before returning to the room, after which they were not seen again in the footage until the tragic discovery.
After the incident, Monroe County District Attorney Mike Mancuso referred to the situation as a “violent domestic tragedy,” assuring the public that there was no ongoing threat and that it was an isolated family matter. A spokesperson for Great Wolf Lodge expressed deep sorrow over the event, offering condolences and confirming their cooperation with law enforcement investigations.
In light of this devastating occurrence, a GoFundMe campaign was launched by loved ones of the victims to assist with funeral expenses. The fundraiser described Charles Harrison as an individual devoted to his family, stating, “He meant so much to our family, and the pain of losing both him and my nephew so unexpectedly is hard to put into words.”
The GoFundMe effort has drawn attention and support, raising over £4,000 in just a few days, illustrating the community’s response to the heartbreaking incident. As the investigation continues, many are left grappling with the tragic loss of life and the complex circumstances surrounding this case.
