Kai Trump, the eldest granddaughter of former President Donald Trump, has revealed that she recently underwent surgery to address a wrist injury sustained during the start of her golf season. In her post, which included a selfie, Trump explained that the injury occurred during her participation in the Golfweek Fall Classic held in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, from September 6 to 8. Despite her hopes to manage the injury without surgical intervention, the freshman at the University of Miami ultimately made the decision to proceed with the operation after discussions with her family, coaches, and the athletic training staff.
“I know I made the best decision for my long-term health and my future in the game I love,” she elaborated, indicating that this choice was made with careful consideration of her career and overall well-being. Kai expressed her disappointment over the circumstances but acknowledged the importance of patience and determination as she embarks on her recovery journey.

She remarked, “It’s certainly not how I envisioned the next few months, but sometimes the journey takes an unexpected turn, and I’m choosing to embrace this one with patience, and a whole lot of determination.” Her positive outlook reflects a resilience that is often essential in competitive sports, especially following an injury.

Trump emphasised the supportive network surrounding her, which has been crucial during this challenging time. She expressed gratitude towards her teammates, coaches, family, her surgeon Dr. Michelle Carlson from the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, and the medical team that attended to her. Kai noted, “Having the right people by your side makes all the difference, and I couldn’t be more grateful.”
Acknowledging the road ahead, she recognised that recovery will require time and commitment. “For now, it’s all about healing, and trusting the process. I can’t wait to be back with my team, doing what I love. I’ll be back before you know it, stronger and more grateful than ever!” she affirmed, reassuring her followers that she is focused on returning to the sport she is passionate about.
As the eldest child of Donald Trump Jr. and Vanessa Trump, Kai is familiar with the pressures and scrutiny that accompany her family’s prominence. She is not only the eldest of her siblings—Donald III, Tristan, Spencer, and Chloe—but also the first cousin to a large number of Trump’s extended family, including Arabella, Joseph, and Theodore.
Before embarking on her collegiate golf journey, sources indicated that Kai had exhibited a strong commitment to the sport, demonstrating a disciplined approach that suggested she intended to excel. A source told PEOPLE that she has been passionate about golf from a young age, especially after relocating from New York to Florida at 13, where she had greater access to training and mentorship from seasoned golfers associated with Trump properties.
The backing of her family and the opportunities provided by the Trump golf courses appear to have played a significant role in shaping her capabilities and aspirations. “She is a good player,” a source remarked, expressing optimism about her potential growth under professional coaching.
As Kai embarks on this new chapter of her athletic career, her dedication to the sport and her proactive approach to recovery will likely serve her well as she aims to return to the competitive golf scene stronger than ever. The journey ahead may have unforeseen challenges, but with her determination and the support of those around her, it seems she is well-equipped to navigate the path of recovery.
