In a surprising culinary collaboration, Wingstop has announced a limited-edition Sour Patch Kids Wicked Punch flavour as part of its Halloween festivities. Available nationwide in the UK from 27 October to 4 November, this unique offering promises to blend the sweet and sour experience of the popular candy with Wingstop’s renowned chicken wings.

The new Wicked Punch flavour features a distinctive Redberry glaze characterised by its “sour then sweet” style, and is topped with bits of Sour Patch Kids candy. This playful concoction aims to attract fans of both Wingstop and the beloved confectionery brand, creating a vibrant crossover that is expected to excite adventurous eaters.

According to a statement from Wingstop, the use of Cloverfield candy as a topping on their wings is a first for the brand. The release refers to the Wicked Punch flavour as “Halloween’s most unhinged taste sensation,” suggesting that Wingstop’s flavour experts have embarked on a creative journey to produce something that challenges traditional notions of what wing flavours can be.
This bold flavour introduction coincides with Sour Patch Kids’ Halloween initiative, the 13 Days of Mischief, running from 19 October to Halloween on 31 October. The campaign encourages fans to engage in playful pranks and share fun with loved ones through social media, aligning perfectly with the concept of ‘sour-fying’ friends and family.
Reflecting on the unique partnership, a spokesperson for Wingstop remarked, “Candy on wings? We know exactly what you’re thinking. But no, seriously, it has no business being this good.” They went on to emphasise that, while the combination might seem alarming, the first bite is set to convert sceptics into fans.
The venture into the world of candy-infused chicken wings has been met with enthusiasm from Mondelēz International, the parent company of Sour Patch Kids. A representative stated that the confectionery brand was eager to explore something beyond traditional candy, adding that the new flavour exemplifies a surprising, playful, and delicious fusion of the two brands.
In addition to the Wicked Punch wings, Sour Patch Kids is set to release several new candy flavours in honour of Halloween. These include innovative options such as Monster Parts, resembling black raspberry, orange, and watermelon flavours, and Tricksters, which offer unexpected taste surprises by deceiving the consumer’s expectations.
For those eager to sample the Wicked Punch flavour early, members of Wingstop’s loyalty programme, Club Wingstop, will have access to the new addition starting on 23 October, four days before its nationwide release. The loyalty programme, launched earlier this year, has seen popular engagement, especially after its promotional event featuring influencer Maura Higgins and a unique promotional bag.
The combination of candy and popular wing flavours seems to cater to an increasing demand for playful food experiences among consumers, particularly during the festive season. As Halloween approaches, the Wicked Punch flavour is positioned as a quirky option for those looking to mix tradition with innovation.
With this latest offering, Wingstop continues to push the boundaries of flavour, inviting thrill-seekers and food lovers to indulge in a new and unexpected culinary adventure this Halloween season.
