In a harrowing case that has shocked the community of Wagoner, Oklahoma, Kore Bommeli, the roommate of the late Talina Galloway, has entered a plea of no contest to several charges related to Galloway’s death. Following a lengthy investigation marked by unexpected revelations, Bommeli’s plea comes two years after Galloway’s disappearance and the subsequent discovery of her remains in a freezer in Arkansas.

Talina Galloway, a 53-year-old woman formerly known by her social media name Talina Zar, went missing in the spring of 2020. She had moved to Wagoner with her husband, who passed away prior to her disappearance. According to family sources, Galloway was struggling with personal issues and had expressed concerns about her health in a Facebook post, where she suggested she might have contracted COVID-19. Her last known communication indicated she intended to retreat to her favourite lake to recuperate.

However, Galloway’s disappearance triggered alarm bells when it became clear she had abandoned numerous personal belongings, including her car and wallet. Bommeli reported her missing on April 17, claiming she had gone for a retreat at the lake after being advised to quarantine due to COVID-19 symptoms. Authorities later discovered that Galloway had not been screened or treated for the virus at any local hospital, intensifying suspicions surrounding Bommeli’s account.
The investigation took a grim turn when on January 14, 2021, a witness reported encountering a foul odour emanating from a freezer in a wooded area of Mena, Arkansas. This discovery led to the shocking finding of Galloway’s dismembered remains, which were subsequently confirmed through forensic analysis. The coroner ruled her death a homicide, and Bommeli quickly became the primary suspect.
Throughout the investigation, law enforcement officials uncovered evidence linking Bommeli not only to Galloway’s death but also to a previous crime in Wisconsin, where she had attempted to poison her neighbours with ricin—a potent toxin. This discovery further complicated the already troubling narrative surrounding her involvement in Galloway’s death.
Bommeli was arrested on charges of first-degree murder and desecration of a human corpse. Initially, she maintained her innocence, but as legal proceedings loomed closer, she accepted a plea deal prior to her scheduled murder trial in September 2022. This agreement saw her plead no contest to a lesser charge of manslaughter, alongside charges related to the desecration of a corpse and firearm possession as a convicted felon.
As a result of her plea, Bommeli has been sentenced to 35 years in prison, allowing her credit for time served since her arrest in 2021. This sentence is to run concurrently with her prior conviction in Wisconsin, where she was sentenced to 25 years for her earlier attempted homicide charges.
Bommeli’s legal representative expressed that she continues to proclaim her innocence, despite the admissions made during her plea. “Kore is steadfast in her claim that she did not do this,” said attorney Bryan Cannonie, indicating that there was an expectation the case would go to trial rather than plea.
Currently, Bommeli is serving her sentence at Taycheedah Correctional Institution in Wisconsin. Her expected release date is set for January 27, 2048, when she will be in her late 80s, contingent on her eligibility and behaviour during her incarceration.
As the community reflects on the tragic circumstances surrounding Galloway’s death, it remains a stark reminder of the complexities and darker facets of human relationships. Her story, while concluding with the conviction of a key figure, leaves behind unanswered questions about the events leading up to that fateful spring day in 2020. Galloway’s family and friends are left to mourn not just her loss, but the painful truths revealed in the quest for justice.
