In a remarkable celebration of body art, Jeremy ‘Remy’ Schofield from Alberta, Canada, has been recognised by Guinness World Records for holding a unique title: the most tattooed living male (multiple layers). Schofield, 38, made a name for himself in the tattoo community not only for the sheer number of designs that adorn his skin but also for the impressive layering technique he employed over the years.
Remy’s tattoo journey began back in 2005 when he chose to commemorate his son by getting his name inked on his left forearm. “I always had crazy hairstyles and dressed in a gothic, very alternative style,” said Remy. “But I never imagined I would end up being so extensively tattooed.” Initially, he added tattoos sporadically, but as his financial situation improved, he decided to indulge himself more fully in the art form, saying, “I wanted to start making up for lost time.”

Over the span of two decades, Schofield has acquired tattoos that cover more than 90% of his body. Each piece has been meticulously crafted and some have undergone up to 40 layers of ink, which he describes as a personal addiction and hobby. “I enjoyed seeing the progress and making tweaks, it was rewarding to create something new,” he said.
Among the over 120 body piercings he also boasts, many of Remy’s tattoos hold significant emotional value. He keeps a detailed record of every tattoo he has obtained since 2019 on his YouTube channel. His body art doesn’t just reflect serious sentiments, showcasing a range of tones from heartfelt memorials to humorous designs. “I have some silly, goofy tattoos on my legs that reflect inside jokes,” he commented. Notably, he has heartfelt portraits dedicated to his dog, parents, and the mother of his son, who tragically passed away from cancer in 2016. These memorials remain untouched by ink layering.
When it comes to the physical challenges of tattooing, Remy has found that some areas of the body are notably more painful to ink. “The inside of my butt cheek and crotch have been the most difficult regions, and I can’t say I enjoyed those sessions,” he recalled. Despite his extensive body art, Remy does not claim the record for the most tattooed living man, a title held since 2006 by New Zealander Lucky Diamond Rich. As Remy noted, he opted not to tattoo his face and palms—areas historically seen as crucial in determining such titles.
Interestingly, Remy’s path to obtaining a Guinness World Record was influenced by Rich himself. Described as a supportive figure within the tattoo community, Rich encouraged Guinness to recognise Remy’s achievement, stating that “this guy has way more layers than me.” This collaborative spirit led to the decision that while Rich may cover a greater percentage of his body with ink, Schofield’s multiple layers warranted a separate record.
Remy expressed gratitude towards Rich for advocating on his behalf, stating, “He didn’t want the record to be considered a laughing stock.” The ultimate result allowed both tattoo enthusiasts to share their respective records, showcasing their unique contributions to the world of body art.
Away from the spotlight of records, Remy continues to pursue his passion for tattoos alongside his wife, a tattoo artist herself. Remy anticipates that his 17-year-old son may also follow in their footsteps, hinting, “I expect he’ll get a few tattoos in the future, though probably not to the same extent as me.”
Surprisingly, Remy often finds that the tattoos have become a part of him to the extent that he seldom considers their presence. “It’s strange because the more tattoos you get, the less you notice them. Living with them every day makes them blend into the background,” he explained.
With this ongoing journey of self-expression through ink, Jeremy ‘Remy’ Schofield has firmly carved out his place within the tattoo community, and his world record serves as a testament to his remarkable commitment to the art form. As he continues to evolve as both an artist and a family man, his story inspires others to embrace their individuality and find their own unique paths in life.
