Catherine Zeta-Jones has shared that her demanding filming schedule has prevented her from completing her husband Michael Douglas’ new memoir, *One Helluva Ride*. During her appearance on the popular *Today* show on 8th October, Zeta-Jones, 56, confirmed that despite her strong affection for Douglas, she has yet to read his book in full.

When asked by host Willie Geist if she had managed to finish the memoir, Zeta-Jones candidly replied, “It’s true,” admitting that her busy schedule has left little time for leisure reading. She elaborated on her packed calendar, stating, “I finished *Wednesday* Season 3, shot in Dublin for seven months, and have gone on a Ryanair plane and landed in London, did all of the *Kill Jackie* stuff, then went to Spain and now I am here talking to you on the fabulous *Today* show.”

Zeta-Jones added that although she loves her husband, the thought of reading about him at the end of a long day does not appeal to her. “As much as I love my husband, when I’m tired at night, I have no intention of reading about him. At all. But everyone else should,” she quipped.

Michael Douglas, 82, released his memoir, *One Helluva Ride*, on 6th October, detailing his life and career, including his Hollywood upbringing as the son of legendary actor Kirk Douglas. The book offers insights into his romantic relationships, particularly the beginnings of his connection with Zeta-Jones. Douglas recounts how Zeta-Jones was clear about her expectations early in their relationship, expressing that she desired monogamy.
In the memoir, he writes, “She told me she understood that I was a single guy who’d come out of a long marriage, but she would only be monogamous. ‘I’m not interested in dating you if you’re dating other people. You can either continue with them or end it and be with me.’” At that time, Douglas was separated from his first wife, Diandra, and had been seeing multiple women, ensuring they lived in different cities, which he maintained was a respectful non-monogamous arrangement.
Additionally, the memoir explores Douglas’s past romantic involvements, including his relationship with actress Kathleen Turner during the filming of *Romancing the Stone* in 1984, and a secret liaison with Jeanne Tripplehorn while shooting *Basic Instinct* in 1992. However, it is Zeta-Jones who ultimately won Douglas’s heart. He first noticed her in an early screening of her 1998 film, *The Mask of Zorro*, before they later met again at the Deauville American Film Festival while he was promoting *A Perfect Murder*.
Married in November 2000, the couple has two children together, son Dylan, 26, and daughter Carys, 23. Their relationship has experienced its ups and downs, including a brief separation in 2013 before they reconciled in 2014.
While Zeta-Jones may still be wading through the pages of her husband’s memoir, it seems that Douglas is taking her delay in stride. In an interview with *The Sunday Times* prior to the book’s launch, he acknowledged that she had not yet read it, a sentiment she echoed in a conversation with *Page Six* on 7th October, stating she was “in the midst” of reading it, despite her comments on *Today* implying that she might still have a considerable amount left.
*One Helluva Ride* by Michael Douglas is currently available for purchase at bookstores and online retailers, offering fans an intimate glimpse into the life of a Hollywood icon. As Zeta-Jones tackles her busy schedule, it seems that she, like many others, will eventually make time to dive into her husband’s story.
