Celebrated musician Ann Wilson has unveiled her latest album, titled *Consecrated Ground*, marking a significant addition to her illustrious career. The album was released on 9 October and sees Wilson collaborating once more with the band Tripsitter, reinforcing her commitment to produce heartfelt music that resonates deeply with fans.

This release follows Wilson’s earlier work, *Another Door*, which came out in 2023. The singer, renowned as the lead vocalist of the iconic rock band Heart, expressed her enthusiasm for reuniting with Tripsitter. “I wanted to work with Tripsitter again because we had this thing going where we just write songs, they’re cool and we record them in Paul Moak’s studio,” Wilson shared in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE. For Wilson, 76, collaborating with Tripsitter was a natural fit, as they have served as Heart’s backing band during tours.
The chemistry between Wilson and Tripsitter is palpable, with the singer noting, “You’re just drawn to it. You just want to go back to it.” This connection has resulted in a unique sound, apparent throughout *Consecrated Ground*, where Wilson combines elements of psych-rock and blues with her signature storytelling prowess.
Encompassing a total of nine tracks, the album showcases a range of musical styles. “There’s lots of good rock on it [and] a couple of really, really sweet ballads,” she noted. “It’s just different than Heart’s [music]. It’s just a different type of sophistication.” This broadened artistic approach has enabled Wilson to continue exploring her musical identity while creating a distinct sound that sets this album apart.
The inspiration behind the album’s title is rooted in the environment of the recording studio. Wilson explained, “I named it *Consecrated Ground* because the ground that the studio sits on, where this music was born, it’s in Nashville, and Nashville’s ground is pretty consecrated when you think of all the people who will come out of there.” This homage to the city underlines the significance of its musical heritage and the impact it has had on her work.
The album opens with a powerful ballad, “I Will Not Be Coming Back,” which showcases Wilson’s impressive vocal range. However, it is the more dynamic tracks like “Hot Foot” and the lively “Renaissance Kids” that highlight her enduring rock ‘n’ roll spirit, promising an energising listening experience.
Beyond her artistic pursuit, Wilson acknowledges the therapeutic benefits of creating music. “To be honest, I really want to keep my life in shape, and you do that by singing,” she stated. This dedication to her craft not only fuels her creativity but also serves as a means to maintain her overall well-being. With plans for Heart to hit the road again next year, Wilson feels that her solo projects have optimally prepared her for the upcoming tour.
In conclusion, *Consecrated Ground* reflects both Ann Wilson’s enduring legacy and her desire to explore new artistic avenues. As she continues to build upon her impressive catalogue, this album stands as a testament to her enduring passion for music and her ability to connect with her audience on a profound level.
