Cory Wharton and Taylor Selfridge have announced the end of their relationship after nearly nine years together, marking the conclusion of a significant chapter for the reality TV stars. The pair, known for their involvement in MTV’s ‘Ex on the Beach,’ shared their split news via separate Instagram statements on October 8.

The couple initially crossed paths while filming the show in November 2017. After a tumultuous on-and-off romance, they officially committed to each other in 2019 and welcomed two daughters, Mila, aged six, and Maya, aged four. Wharton also has a daughter named Ryder, aged nine, from a previous relationship with Cheyenne Floyd.

In her candid Instagram post, Selfridge expressed discontent with the respect she received from Wharton during their relationship. “I was sick of not getting basic respect from the person I was with for nine years and the father of my two children,” the 32-year-old wrote. She confidently affirmed her belief that she deserved more and is determined to pursue what is rightfully hers in life.
Wharton, 35, addressed the split on his Instagram Stories, offering heartfelt apologies to Selfridge. He wrote, “As hard as that is to say publicly, I think it’s important to be honest about where my life is at this moment.” He acknowledged the memorable experiences they shared and expressed regret for not meeting her expectations, stating, “I know there were times I could’ve been better, and I’m sorry for the ways I let you down.”
In his statement, Wharton also committed to being a more present father to their daughters. He mentioned that he would undertake personal growth, aiming to learn from his mistakes and evolve into the best version of himself. His promise to maintain his role as a dedicated father surfaced amidst reflections on how his actions affected the family.
Their breakup followed a period of public scrutiny, particularly during the recent season of ‘The Challenge,’ where Wharton was seen flirting with co-star Izzy Fairthorne. Wharton openly discussed his attraction to Fairthorne, revealing that he found comfort in the attention amid struggles in his relationship with Selfridge. “Back home hasn’t been great,” he confessed, highlighting the challenges he faced while filming.
In the wake of the airing, Wharton took the responsibility for his actions, stating that he had already issued a private apology to Selfridge. He acknowledged the disappointment in his behaviour, saying, “I’m a big boy. I knew what I was doing,” and described his actions as “selfish.”
Despite the turmoil, Fairthorne later clarified that no romantic relationship developed after filming concluded. She emphasised that her emotional reaction to Wharton’s exit from the show had more to do with his family situation than any connection between them. “It wasn’t because he was leaving and I was so upset about it,” she explained, indicating the complexities of the circumstances surrounding their involvement on the show.
Selfridge had previously hinted at the strain in their relationship, though she chose not to delve into specifics. In an August Snapchat post, she expressed her reluctance to share details publicly, stating, “I have my feelings about it, but I’m not going to talk about it on the internet right now.”
The end of Wharton and Selfridge’s lengthy relationship reflects not only personal challenges but also the intense scrutiny that comes with living in the spotlight. As they navigate this new chapter, both individuals appear committed to focusing on their family responsibilities and personal development. The news has resonated with fans and followers, who have watched their journey unfold over nearly a decade.
