As the countdown to the close of the Readers’ Choice Poll for the 2026 Sexiest Man Alive draws near—set to conclude on 12 October—anticipation among fans and nominees alike has reached a fever pitch. With nominations spanning various categories and some fiercely competitive races, enthusiasm for this annual contest has never been more palpable.
Some categories appear neck and neck, with no clear victor, while others have established clear frontrunners. The buzz surrounding the poll has resulted in a flurry of comments and discussions, with fans vocalising their opinions on nominations, potential pairings, and their repeated voting habits. It’s evident that the excitement surrounding the competition is infectious.
Nominees from this year’s poll are actively engaging with the audience, sharing their reactions and playful banter related to their nominations. For instance, Craig Melvin, co-host of the Today show, has been at the receiving end of teasing from his colleagues after being nominated in the “Hotter Than Your Morning Cup of Coffee” category. Fellow nominee Michael Strahan was even called upon to step aside, a move that Melvin took with good humour, albeit amid visible embarrassment. Yet, support from his fans remains unwavering, with some even attending live tapings, brandishing signs to show their loyalty.
In a different corner of the media landscape, Vlad Duthiers from CBS This Morning has been met with unwavering backing from his colleagues, including prominent names like Gayle King and Nate Burleson. Assuring him that this was not some form of prank, they celebrated Duthiers’ nomination with humorous videos and enthusiastic endorsements, bringing a sense of camaraderie to the competition.
Mark Consuelos, a previous winner of the Sexiest Man Alive poll, has also chimed in on the fun on Live with Kelly and Mark. He boasted about what he termed an “embarrassment of riches” in his family, as both he and son Joaquin are vying for the title—Mark for his longstanding reputation and Joaquin for his debut in the Broadway category. Reflecting on the friendly rivalry, Mark mused, “Wouldn’t that be amazing if we were up against each other? Oh, what drama!”
The Sturniolo Triplets, a trio known for their content, took a unique approach by inviting fans to vote for which of the three should be crowned “Sexiest,” promoting a humorous “sexy off” to showcase their individual charms. Their playful take has added a layer of fun to the competition, encouraging audience interaction.
From “Dancing with the Stars,” professionals such as Pasha Pashkov and Val Chmerkovskiy displayed genuine surprise upon learning of their nominations. Their reactions, caught on air, conveyed both astonishment and delight, highlighting the unpredictability of such contests and the element of surprise that often characterises them.
Also generating buzz is Jackson Olson of the Savannah Bananas, who found himself pleasantly shocked by his nomination in the “Sexiest TikToker” category. Embracing this unexpected accolade, Olson has taken to social media to share the excitement with his followers, blending his vibrant online persona with the joy of recognition.
Other nominees, such as Jack Innanen and Chase Mattson, have reached out for support in a bid for votes. Innocently earnest, Innanen’s appeal for assistance has elicited warm reactions from fans, while Mattson’s charming posts continuously spark interest, especially with the backing of his wife Keliann.
Bowen Yang has established himself as a contender for the “sexiest man” label following his recent Broadway debut, and while Cleveland-based morning host David Greenberg may not be officially nominated, his positive energy has captured the attention of audiences, earning him some enthusiastic write-in votes.
Meanwhile, the “Sexiest Cat Dad” category has always brought a level of fun and controversy to the poll, demonstrating that the competition not only celebrates individual attractiveness but also invites light-hearted debate. Special Projects Editor Ana Calderone has contributed to the lively spirit of this category by creating a celebratory cake, inspired by the competitive frenzy.
As the deadline approaches, participants and fans alike gear up for the final push, ensuring a thrilling conclusion to the contest. With a diverse array of nominees and a palpable sense of enthusiasm, the Sexiest Man Alive poll continues to capture public interest, proving that battles for popularity can be both entertaining and engaging.
