Jen Hamilton, a registered nurse and social media influencer, has shared her journey of healing and self-discovery following her separation from her estranged husband, Brian Hamilton. The couple, married for 13 years, faced a dramatic turn of events when Jen alleged infidelity as the driving factor behind their split.

In a candid interview on Kylie Kelce’s podcast, “Not Gonna Lie,” which aired on 8 October, Jen revealed how she has transformed since the end of her marriage. “I’ve lost 200 lbs. I didn’t know if you knew that. 200 lbs. of man,” she said, reflecting on her new outlook and newfound freedom. Emphasising her liberation from the marriage, she shared, “I feel liberated. I feel so much better.”
Despite her current positive disposition, Jen admitted that the journey to healing was far from easy. She recounted a period of deep sorrow, stating, “I did cry for, like, a month straight.” It was a pivotal moment of realisation, however, when she decided to stop dwelling on the past. “I woke up, and I was like, ‘Maybe I should not do that anymore,’” she explained. This shift in mindset allowed her to reclaim her life, stating, “I’m gonna live my life because now I get to have my life, you know?”
Recalling the circumstances surrounding her marriage, Jen explained how she and Brian tied the knot when she was five months pregnant. “I found out about some nefarious things that the man was doing behind my back,” she said, disclosing details of the alleged affair with a woman considerably older than herself. “Extracurricular activities with a woman 21 years older than me. And so that was confusing,” she added, highlighting her feelings of betrayal.
As the reality of the situation sunk in, Jen experienced moments of self-doubt and confusion. “I had these moments of, like, ‘What’s wrong with me? Like, why me?’” she admitted. However, a transformative experience changed her perspective. “My olfactory nerve in my nose was like, ‘It smells like him,’” she recounted, describing a moment that led to her deciding to purge her home of memories tied to her husband.
In an act of symbolic closure, Jen’s parents assisted her in finding new bedsheets, with Jen later inviting friends over for a cathartic sheet-burning ceremony. “I feel like was such a moment,” she said, marking a significant step in her journey towards independence and self-empowerment.
After this ritual, Jen embraced a new outlook on her life, declaring, “This has not happened to me. I’m not gonna be the victim in this. This is happening for me.” She explained that an awakening was necessary for her to finally break free from a marriage where she had previously offered forgiveness repeatedly. “It needed to be as bad as it was in order for me to leave because I forgave so freaking much in the marriage,” she acknowledged.
Speaking during a recent Q&A event at the women-owned champagne bar RBF in Cary, North Carolina, Jen elaborated on her decision to be open about her divorce. “I could have very easily done what a lot of women do, and hide the shame and take on the shame as my own,” she stated. “Well, guess what? It’s not my shame. I decided that I wasn’t gonna be his PR manager anymore.” By publicly sharing her story, Jen felt she remained true to her authentic self.
As she continues to navigate this new chapter in her life, Jen Hamilton remains committed to supporting others in similar situations. Her openness about the trials she has faced resonates with many, providing hope and inspiration to those grappling with their own struggles. The journey may have changed her life significantly, but Jen is determined to move forward, embracing a future filled with possibility and growth.
