The festive season is set to be an exciting time for the Matter family. Salish Matter, a popular young creator, is set to debut alongside her father, renowned photographer and content creator Jordan Matter, in a special holiday-themed series on Netflix titled “Salish’s 12 Games of Christmas,” which launches on 28 November.

In this unique festive competition, Salish will be accompanied by seven of her closest friends as they engage in a series of holiday-themed challenges. The delightful premise revolves around the group attempting to identify an impostor among them, all for the chance to win an enticing “mountain of Christmas presents,” as described in the show’s synopsis.

Filming for the series took place in a cosy cabin setting, enhancing the holiday spirit. In an exclusive chat with PEOPLE, Salish expressed her enthusiasm for collaborating with her father, noting how their years of creating content together have made the experience feel both familiar and special. “We’ve been making videos together for six years, and it’s always super fun,” she said. The transition to Netflix’s larger production format was a natural progression for the duo, bringing an elevated atmosphere without losing the enjoyment they had become accustomed to.

Jordan Matter, 59, reflected on the memorable moments they have shared while working together. He emphasised the importance of making lasting memories during their time in front of the camera, saying, “I don’t know how many more years we will be on screen together, and I want to soak up every moment. It’s truly magical.” Both father and daughter typically cherish the holiday season, considering it their “favourite two weeks of the year,” during which they often enjoy skiing in Colorado before visiting family in Baltimore and taking in the holiday festivities in New York City.
Salish’s rise to fame began in 2018 when she appeared in her father’s popular YouTube videos, featuring fun lifestyle and challenge content. Over time, her presence on social media has exploded, amassing over 5 million followers on Instagram and nearly 9 million on TikTok. In 2025, she was awarded Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Award for Favourite Female Creator, not to mention the successful run of their joint show, “Salish & Jordan Matter,” which had three seasons released on Netflix in 2026.
The holiday game show experience proved to be a step up from their typical projects. Salish described it as “next level,” highlighting how the production’s scale enhanced their collaboration. “We kept the fun and spontaneity from our YouTube channel, but it was elevated with production, crew, budget, time, everything,” she noted. The memories formed during this production are treasured moments for both of them.
Salish further described working alongside her friends, likening it to a “summer camp” atmosphere, albeit set in winter. Nights spent in a shared hotel room became lively adventures, with the group often staying up until the early hours of the morning, bonding and enjoying each other’s company. “Somehow, even though we were together all day and night, nobody had any idea who the impostors were,” Salish remarked, highlighting the excitement and mystery that unfolded during filming.
As the premiere date approaches, the pair are eager for viewers to enjoy “The 12 Games of Christmas” in the same spirit they adopt while watching their favourite holiday specials as a family. They envision families gathering with cups of hot chocolate, snuggling on the couch, and delighting in the thrill of guessing who the impostors are.
“It’s so crazy because last Christmas, we were all in the basement obsessing over the final episodes of Stranger Things,” they recalled. “And now we have our own show, and hopefully families will have the same kind of memories watching it.” The Matter family’s journey from YouTube fame to a holiday special encapsulates the joy of family bonding during the festive season, promising to bring a unique blend of fun, excitement, and warmth to audiences everywhere.
