Walt Disney World is set to celebrate the festive season with the launch of its first-ever holiday overlay for the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets. The eagerly anticipated update will make its debut on 4 November, marking the first major alteration since the attraction opened to the public in May 2023.

This year, the roller coaster will be transformed for a limited time into the “Obligatory Holiday Overlay,” featuring the beloved Muppet characters and their house band, the Electric Mayhem. Guests can expect a lively spectacle as the band presents their own unique renditions of various holiday classics throughout the festive period.
The festive fun will last until 6 January 2027, during which visitors will encounter the iconic Electric Mayhem members, including Dr. Teeth and Animal, as they prepare for their holiday concert. As guests embark on the thrilling ride, they will be treated to a special performance as an audio-animatronic version of Scooter attempts to orchestrate the band’s rehearsal amid the festive chaos.

To further enhance the holiday cheer, the Electric Mayhem have collaborated with notable artists Cyndi Lauper and Jennifer Hudson, who will lend their talents to the ride. The new setlist for the holiday overlay will showcase tracks such as “Little Saint Nick,” “Holiday Road,” featuring Kermit the Frog and Fozzie Bear, “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” with Hudson, and “Silver Bells” featuring Lauper.
In a delightful promotional video shared on social media to announce the holiday overlay, Lauper appeared alongside Miss Piggy. The two posed for the camera as Miss Piggy outlined her own whimsical holiday wishes, which included fabulous items like “new stilettos” and “a six-part docuseries on Disney+.” Lauper playfully expressed her dream of singing with the Electric Mayhem on a roller coaster, to which Miss Piggy humorously responded before introducing the band.
This holiday overlay represents a significant milestone for the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets, especially as it is the first update since the attraction’s opening at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The previous iteration of the ride, featuring Aerosmith, was closed in early March to make way for this new and lively experience.
In addition to the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will also see the Alien Swirling Saucers in Toy Story Land receive its own holiday ensemble, featuring festive tunes such as “Toyland” and “Deck the Halls.”
Disney is also expanding the seasonal celebrations across its parks, with EPCOT’s Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind set to introduce a “Holiday Remix.” This variation will include a retro playlist decorated with festive classics like “Christmas Wrapping” by The Waitresses and “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” by Andy Williams.
With the holiday overlay, the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster promises to deliver a unique experience that combines exhilarating thrills with the heartwarming charm of the Muppets. As the festive season draws closer, Disney fans are sure to be excited about the wave of musical and celebratory updates arriving at the resort. It’s a chance for guests to enjoy a spectacular roller coaster ride while tapping their feet to the holiday rhythms performed by their favourite Muppet characters.
