The 39-year-old artist and his wife, 38-year-old Katie Peterson, are expecting a baby girl, marking their second child together. The couple eagerly expressed their happiness about adding a daughter to their family. McCartney remarked on their desire for a balanced family dynamic, jokingly recounting, “Once we had the most amazing boy, I thought to myself, ‘If it’s another boy, we may be going for three!’” Peterson, who is currently over 15 weeks pregnant, shared her delight in anticipating the arrival of a girl, saying, “I think she’ll bring the perfect balance to our little family.”
Both parents are particularly excited about Archer stepping into the role of an older brother. McCartney observed early signs of compassion and sensitivity in Archer, stating, “I already see early signs of compassion, sensitivity, and patience in him.” Peterson added that their son is a naturally affectionate child, describing Archer as a “big kisser” who would likely shower his little sister with love.

As they prepare for their daughter’s arrival, Peterson has begun organising ideas for her nursery. However, the couple has yet to settle on a name for their new addition. Peterson mentioned they have a middle name in honour of her grandmother, while also seeking first name suggestions. McCartney humorously reflected on their naming dilemma, stating, “Now that a girl is coming, we’re second-guessing all of them.”
The couple have turned their experience as new parents into a source of joy and wonder. Reflecting on parenthood, McCartney shared how having Archer has enriched his life, transforming mundane moments into cherished memories. He remarked, “The everyday things… are now these hugely special moments because we get to watch him discover them. The greatest part about being a dad is becoming a kid again.”

For Peterson, the journey of parenting has been equally rewarding. She described Archer as an “easy-going” child, noting his resilience despite having a challenging start in life, having spent time in the NICU after his birth. Peterson has fondly remarked on Archer’s cheerful spirit and ability to engage in conversation, “You can’t say anything without him chiming in. I just listen to him talk all day.”
The couple’s discussions often revolve around the joy Archer brings into their lives, with moments of laughter shared as they mimic their son’s expressions and antics. Peterson expressed deep appreciation for the love and happiness Archer has introduced to their household, saying, “The genuine joy and giggles that fill our home because of him are the best part.”
McCartney also highlights the incredible strength of his wife, especially in light of their experiences in the NICU. He reflected on how her maternal instincts have been a guiding force in their family, stating, “Her strength and maternal instincts are unmatched,” emphasising the importance of Peterson’s role as a mother.
As the couple looks forward to welcoming their daughter in the new year, their enthusiasm is palpable. McCartney happily affirmed, “Can’t wait to meet you, baby girl! Mom and Dad are ready for whatever you want to throw at us.” The couple hopes to create a nurturing environment where their children can thrive and look forward to the new adventures that lie ahead.
