A tragic discovery has unfolded in Texas involving the remains of a missing flight attendant, Rana Nofal Soluri. The 47-year-old woman was reported missing on June 11, 2025, after colleagues expressed concerns about her absence, having not heard from her since March 19 of the same year. Soluri’s lifeless body was subsequently found by a fisherman on June 13, 2026, in Montague County, near Brushy Creek.

Dennis William Day, Soluri’s long-time friend and roommate, has been charged with her murder. According to an arrest warrant, Day allegedly confessed to choking Soluri to death in an altercation the previous June. The case has garnered significant media attention, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding her death and the events leading up to the discovery of her body.

The Fisherman’s find marked a year-long search that left many unanswered questions. Authorities had searched the area shortly after Soluri was reported missing but were unsuccessful. Detective Tom O’Brien from the Fort Worth Police Department explained that changing conditions in the region, specifically flooding in the creeks, might have concealed her remains. It appears that mud may have covered Soluri’s body, hindering initial recovery efforts.

After her remains were located, they were taken to the North Texas Center for Human Identification for forensic analysis. On September 15, 2026, officials confirmed that the remains belonged to Soluri. Following the completion of the investigation, her body was returned to her family. A janazah, a traditional Islamic funeral prayer, was held in Richardson, Texas, in honour of the deceased flight attendant.
In a touching gesture of support, American Airlines, for which Soluri worked as a flight attendant with its subsidiary Envoy Air, assisted with transporting her remains to Seattle for burial. A GoFundMe campaign was established to support her daughter, Lulu, with funeral expenses, emphasising the emotional toll this tragedy has taken on her family. The fundraiser described Lulu, a private individual, as showing remarkable strength as she prepared to confront her mother’s alleged murderer in court.
Dennis Day remains in custody at the Tarrant County Jail, having been booked on June 26, 2025. He is currently facing a murder charge with bail set at $200,000. In statements provided to police, Day allegedly claimed to have “snapped” during a confrontation with Soluri, leading to the tragic events of her death. Further investigation revealed surveillance footage from March 21, 2025, which reportedly showed Day dragging what appeared to be a lifeless body from their home to the backyard.
The affidavit accompanying Day’s arrest indicates that he later disposed of Soluri’s body by placing it in a black rubbish bin and driving approximately 65 miles to Bowie, where he allegedly discarded her remains from a bridge.
Additionally, another individual, Joanne Walters, known as Joni Thomas, has also been implicated in the case. She faces charges of tampering with evidence with the intent to impair a human corpse, and her case remains ongoing.
Members of the Fort Worth Police Department and the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office have yet to provide detailed comments regarding the investigation’s ongoing aspects. The emergence of new evidence and testimonies is anticipated as the case prepares to move to trial, with further court appearances expected in the upcoming months.
As the community comes to terms with this heart-wrenching incident, attention is focused on the judicial process that stands to hold those responsible accountable for this tragic loss of life.
