Eby, whose ALS diagnosis came in March 2022, was lauded for her ability to engage audiences on social media with a blend of humour and education about her condition. Her rise to fame occurred largely through platforms like TikTok and Instagram, where she captivatingly documented her journey living with a terminal illness. She adopted the username ‘Limpbroozkit’ and amassed hundreds of thousands of followers, providing them with insights into her life while injecting levity into a particularly grim subject.

In a personal essay penned for PEOPLE magazine earlier this year, Eby shared her aspirations for her social media presence. She viewed it as a “visual diary” for others who have been diagnosed with ALS, emphasising her desire to bridge the gap between the disease and public perception. She wrote that her aim was not only to raise awareness of ALS but also to foster support among those affected by it, reflecting on how her light-hearted approach helped ease conversations about her condition.
Sheri Strahl, President and CEO of the ALS Network, hailed Eby as an “extraordinary advocate, storyteller, community builder, and friend.” In a heartfelt statement, she acknowledged Eby’s transformative impact on the way ALS is perceived, describing how she brought humour into trying situations and forged connections among individuals affected by the disease. Strahl expressed gratitude for the privilege of knowing Eby and highlighted the lasting influence she will have within the ALS community.
Tributes poured in from numerous individuals, including Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, who shared memories of Eby from their time working together over the decade in which she was with the company. He referred to her as an “amazing warrior” with an uplifting spirit, extending condolences to her family and friends during this difficult time.
Eby began sharing her story shortly after her diagnosis, which followed four years of exhibiting symptoms. She quickly gained attention for her thoughtful yet entertaining content. One of her notable quotes from a 2023 interview on the Today show was, “Levity is my superpower.” This spirit resonated with many, as her candidness about the realities of living with ALS helped destigmatise the diagnosis for a wider audience.
While Eby’s content often leaned towards the comedic, she also provided critical educational insights into the nature of ALS. She made it a point to debunk the misconception that the disease predominantly affects older men, sharing that, at 37, she represented a demographic that many may have overlooked. In her essay, she articulated, “I could be someone’s daughter, sister, mum, girlfriend, wife. I think people see me and it’s a little more real.”
In her final updates, Eby revealed the progression of her illness, highlighting that September 2026 had seen significant deterioration in her ability to speak. She shared details about the challenges she faced and her persistence in adapting to her condition despite it. Tragically, she acknowledged the difficulty in communication, sharing her struggles with speech disturbances and the physical adjustments that were necessary to convey her thoughts.
Apart from her social media contributions, Eby founded a nonprofit organisation called ALStogether, which serves as a support network for those diagnosed with ALS. The initiative focuses on providing accessible resources and fostering community connections among individuals, caregivers, and professionals in the patient care spectrum.
Eby’s reflections on her legacy focused on her hope that her videos would remain a source of guidance for future patients. “My TikTok presence will live on after I die,” she noted in an essay, emphasising her wish that others would find clarity and community through her experiences.
Brooke Eby’s legacy is one of advocacy, community, and unwavering spirit. Her journey through a challenging illness has opened discussions and created spaces for connection, ensuring that her impact will resonate among those she has inspired long after her passing.
