Shortly after becoming a mum, White has collaborated with Minted, a company known for its artistic home decor, to create a special space that combines personal touches with whimsical design elements.

The nursery’s design journey began with an idea that White had nurtured ever since she learned she was having a girl. It all started with a stunning woodland animal mural wallpaper she discovered on Pinterest, which provided the initial inspiration for the room’s overall theme. Over time, this vision evolved significantly as White began incorporating meaningful pieces from her travels and family heirlooms to reflect her daughter’s unique identity.

Reflecting on the design process, White candidly shared that had she anticipated the challenges of motherhood—including a stint in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU)—she might have opted for a simpler design plan. “I didn’t foresee how the project would expand as I decided to add our family pets, both earthly and those watching over us from heaven,” she explained. The nursery took on a life of its own, transforming into a sanctuary filled with creative illustrations and cherished memories.

In a remarkable testament to her artistic abilities, White, who frequently designs and creates her own clothing, took on the ambitious task of crafting the custom mural herself. “It no longer resembles my original inspiration; it has become something deeply personal,” she noted, highlighting the fairy tale and Beatrix Potter-inspired elements adorning the walls. Many of the illustrations were drawn from her favourite childhood stories, spanning from Potter’s classics to beloved characters like Angelina Ballerina and the charming Flower Fairies.

A particularly delightful feature of the nursery is the DJ bunny, a whimsical request from White’s husband, Andrew Fedyk, who is better known as the DJ Loud Luxury. “Including the DJ bunny was the only creative brief he provided, and I must say, it has become one of the standout elements of the room,” White commented with a smile.

White’s attention to detail in the nursery’s decor is evident, with pieces sourced from various corners of the globe. Collaborating with Minted allowed her to use framed art that dons the walls, including a large piece that features a heartwarming photo of Juliette. A sweet print of her name, styled in a way reminiscent of a penmanship lesson, hangs prominently in the room, serving to personalise the space further.

“I love that all the decorations are designed by independent artists. It means supporting creativity while integrating meaningful elements into her nursery,” White expressed. The couple also curated various decor items from their travels, mixing heirlooms with new finds to weave a narrative about their family story within the room.

While the whimsical aesthetic of the nursery is clear, practicality was also a cornerstone of its design. White and Fedyk wanted the room to remain functional as Juliette grows, ensuring it would accommodate her needs for years to come. “We knew that we needed a trundle bed,” White explained. “It serves dual purposes—providing sleeping arrangements for guests and later transforming into a toddler bed for her.”

The nursery space itself poses a challenge, with its awkward dimensions, prompting creative storage solutions including an expansive closet designed to adapt as their daughter matures. White envisions this room as not just a nursery, but a grounding space filled with love—one that fosters sentimental memories for Juliette as she ages.

“I hope that she will feel the depth of our love every time she steps into this room,” White shared. As Juliette grows and their family adapts the nursery to suit changing needs, there is an everlasting element of affection embedded in every brushstroke of the mural that encircles the room.

“I often joke that this mural took so long to paint that she will probably never get a new room,” White laughed. “I just hope her future partner appreciates fairies!”

The joys of new motherhood, according to White, make the journey truly worthwhile. “Watching her begin to show her personality—those smiles and giggles—has been the most rewarding experience,” she remarked. “I cherish every moment of being her mum.”
