Kate Wasserbach Moore, the creative force behind Abel Honor New York, is on the brink of expanding her family, as she recently announced her pregnancy with her third child. The designer, who is already a mother to two young children, 2-year-old Carson and 14-month-old Julian, shared the heartwarming news exclusively with PEOPLE. The new addition to the family is expected in March.

The journey to discovering her pregnancy was quite the experience for Wasserbach Moore. She noted a shift in her food cravings and habits that hinted at the impending arrival. “I started going down these food rabbit holes, and my husband and I both noticed that suddenly my entire algorithm was food,” she explained. Not typically one to indulge in extensive culinary experimentation — especially given her vegetarian diet — she found herself inexplicably drawn to new foods that were out of character for her. “That was when I started thinking, ‘Hmm…I might be pregnant,’” she recounted. “The second I’m pregnant, my appetite goes through the roof, so apparently my algorithm knew before I did.”

Revealing the joyful news to friends and family has been an enjoyable experience for Wasserbach Moore, although she acknowledged that it caught some people by surprise. “I think we caught everyone a little off guard with number three,” she said. “Not because anyone was surprised that we wanted a third, but because we’re still very much in the thick of it with the first two.” With Carson and Julian’s ages relatively close together at 20 months apart, the couple is set to experience the challenges and joys of managing three children under the age of three.

As for her current pregnancy journey, Wasserbach Moore indicated it has mirrored her previous experiences. While her first trimester proved to be particularly challenging, she stated that she began to regain her energy around the end of the 13th week. The impending arrival of a spring baby adds an extra layer of excitement; Wasserbach Moore humorously noted that having staggered birthdays across the year will prove beneficial. “When I’m eventually doing three birthday parties every year, I’ll at least get a little breather in between,” she joked.
Interestingly, the couple has chosen to keep the sex of their third child a surprise, much like they did with their first two children. “It is definitely harder to keep it a surprise now because everything is right there in your portal, so every time we walk into a doctor’s appointment we basically announce immediately, ‘We don’t know!’ just to make sure nobody accidentally lets it slip,” she noted. The anticipation of uncovering the child’s sex adds to the excitement, with Wasserbach Moore voicing her pleasure that more couples are returning to the idea of keeping such information hidden until the birth.
While they have brainstormed names for the new addition, Wasserbach Moore expressed that there are no new names they are currently pursuing. “There really aren’t any brand-new names we’re suddenly chasing. They’re names we’ve genuinely loved for years,” she explained. This thoughtful approach to naming suggests a deep consideration for their children’s identities and the values they wish to impart.
Reflecting on her workload alongside her growing family, Wasserbach Moore shared her thoughts on balancing her successful bridal business with motherhood. Their business has experienced significant growth to the point where they’ve closed their books to new brides until 2027. “Saying no to business is obviously a wonderful position to be in, but this baby has also given me a reason to step back a little,” she noted. This transition allows her to devote ample time and attention to her clients and fosters a more balanced lifestyle.
Excitement fills the air as Wasserbach Moore anticipates how Carson and Julian will adjust to their new roles as older siblings. She fondly recalled how Carson adapted to becoming a big sister during Julian’s arrival, and now she is eager to see how Julian will respond. “Carson stepped into being a big sister so seamlessly,” she reminisced, noting Julian’s newfound understanding of the situation. Carson has lovingly named the baby “GheGhe,” a term that Wasserbach Moore admits she cannot fully grasp, but which highlights the emotional connections forming within the family already.
As her family prepares for this new chapter, Wasserbach Moore reflects on the expansion of her heart and home. “I couldn’t imagine loving another human being as much as I loved her,” she shared, referring to her bond with Carson. “But when Julian came along, everything changed. So I know there’s more room in there, and I’m really excited to see our family — and my heart — grow again,” she said. Alongside the addition of their third child, the family’s dog, Cuff, will also play a role in this lively environment, contributing to the whirlwind of family life that lies ahead.
With feelings of gratitude and anticipation, Wasserbach Moore embraces the chaos that comes with a growing family. She is ready for the challenges that lie ahead while cherishing the blessings that accompany this new chapter in their lives.
