Kelly Clarkson is currently immersing herself in family life, expressing that she is not dating out of respect for her children following the tragic passing of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. The former couple’s children, River and Remington, are undergoing a significant transition as they adapt to life without their father, who died from melanoma in August 2025.
In a recent episode of the Las Culturistas podcast, Clarkson shared insights into her current mindset and family dynamics. The 44-year-old musician and talk show host, who has just concluded her seven-season run of *The Kelly Clarkson Show*, stated that she is relishing her day-to-day routines, which include cooking, playing games, and navigating school drop-offs.

Clarkson disclosed that her children’s emotional well-being is a major factor in her decision to remain single. “My kids right now, I think there’s a lot behind that, but I think that would rock their boat a little bit,” she explained. This concern is particularly relevant given the recent loss they have faced, and she is determined to create a stable and nurturing environment for them.
Reflecting on her choices, Clarkson said, “Honestly, this is not a bulls–t answer. I love my life right now. Like, it just got to where I am not exhausted at every point of it.” She indicated that engaging in a new relationship would require a significant time commitment, one she feels unable to give at this stage in her life.
Her commitment to her kids was echoed during her conversation with podcast co-host Bowen Yang, who highlighted how this new phase feels different for the family. Clarkson agreed, expressing contentment with their current dynamic, stating, “We’re having fun, and we’re cooking, we’re playing games. I’m there at pickup, or I’m there dropping off. I’m there.”
Living in New York City has also enriched Clarkson’s parenting experience. She appreciates how the vibrant metropolitan environment exposes her children to diverse cultures and personalities. “It’s a beautiful city to raise kiddos in too, because I wasn’t really exposed to different cultures,” she shared. “I love where I grew up. Obviously, I turned out alright, but I just meant it’s a cool thing for them to have just every color of the rainbow, every, you know, colour of personality, everything.”
Earlier this year, Clarkson provided a glimpse into her family life during her talk show. In January, she shared, “They’re 9 and 11. Kind of that special little fun stage where they can wipe their own behinds, but they’re still small enough to, like, love cuddling and love snuggles.” The singer has been allowing her children to sleep with her more often, helping them cope with the changes in their family since their father’s passing.
During her final episode of *The Kelly Clarkson Show*, the emotional connection to her children was palpable as she brought River and Remington on stage. “I’ve loved being in your homes each day,” she told her audience, affirming the role they played in her family’s lives. “I’ve loved seeing my kiddos grow up on this show as well.”
As Clarkson navigates this new chapter, she remains focused on creating joyful memories with her children while respecting their journey toward healing. The love and support she has for River and Remington are clear, as she treasures the simple yet unforgettable moments of their everyday lives. Through her experience, she emphasises the significance of prioritising family and cherishing the present, particularly during times of adversity.
