“Siesta Key” Alum Sam Logan Failed to Pay Chef for Months of Work, New Complaint Alleges

**Legal Dispute Erupts Between Chef and Reality TV Star Over Unpaid Wages**

Sam Logan, known from the reality television series ‘Siesta Key’, is embroiled in a legal battle with chef James Chang, who has accused him of failing to pay for culinary services rendered. The case, filed in Florida, alleges several serious charges against Logan, including breach of contract, unjust enrichment, fraud, and civil conspiracy.

Chang, a professional chef who typically caters to affluent clients, claims he worked as a private chef for Logan and former cast member Mike Vazquez, first meeting them in November 2022. Initially compensated for two events, Chang alleges he subsequently entered into a weekly agreement with Logan for meal preparation, equal to £1,000, in addition to reimbursable expenses.

According to the court documents, Chang began his meal prepping duties in December 2022 and later extended his services to include Tyler Bartel, another roommate and defendant in the case. The complaint indicates that the agreement was for Chang to prepare meals not only for Logan and Vazquez but also for Bartel, with an understanding that payment for services would be made collectively.

The lawsuit states that Chang worked nearly every day for the next nine months, preparing meals that allegedly featured in episodes of ‘Siesta Key’. Despite this, he claims that Logan failed to reimburse him for costs, leading to expenses that reportedly total “tens of thousands of pounds”. The situation, according to the complaint, led Chang to feel exploited without any intention from Logan to fulfil his payment commitments.

Chang expressed his concerns to Logan and Vazquez regarding payment multiple times, even sharing that he was on the brink of eviction due to financial struggles. Unfortunately, communication deteriorated after Logan purportedly informed Chang that Vazquez believed he was harassing them. Following a demand for payment, Logan allegedly blocked further contact with Chang.

Moreover, Chang claims that Elizabeth A. Logan, Sam Logan’s mother and alleged trustee of the Elizabeth A. Logan Revocable Trust, assured him that the trust would cover his expenses, a promise she later withdrew. This breakdown in trust reportedly led to threats made against Chang’s friend, warning of repercussions should legal action be taken.

In the midst of these accusations, Chang did receive a single payment of around £500 from Bartel after an unexpected encounter during the summer of 2024. Nevertheless, he is pursuing over £50,000 in unpaid wages, citing multiple counts including breach of agreement and unjust enrichment.

The lawsuit purports that Logan and Vazquez engaged in deliberate fraudulent practices, leveraging their celebrity status and providing false information to exploit Chang’s work for free. The complaint claims that their actions were designed to create a misleading image of wealth on social media and through the show, benefiting from Chang’s efforts without fair compensation.

As the case moves forward, the court has previously denied a motion by Vazquez to dismiss the lawsuit, suggesting the serious nature of Chang’s claims. Complications arose during mediation attempts, leading to a breakdown of negotiations at the end of August 2026.

In a notable development, Logan and Elizabeth have since filed a motion in limine to prevent certain evidence from being used in court, arguing that mentions of their wealth are irrelevant and could be misleading to the jury. They assert that Chang must provide specific details regarding his claimed reimbursement costs, while also objecting to the linking of third parties to the trust without established connections.

The anticipation is building as the case is set to go to trial on September 30, with implications that could reverberate beyond the court, highlighting issues of fair compensation in the culinary industry, especially in high-profile environments.
