Rising star Dasha, renowned for her hit single “Austin,” has announced she will be taking a break from her busy schedule to undergo surgery for vocal cord nodules. The singer revealed her plans to the media outlet ‘Billboard’ on September 29, sharing her determination to prioritise her health after a demanding few years of extensive touring.

The operation is scheduled for **October 22** at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, a facility familiar to her, as fellow country artist Jordan Davis underwent the same procedure there. “Knowing someone who went through the same experience as me calms me down so much,” Dasha commented, emphasising the reassurance of having a personal connection to the medical team.

Dasha, whose real name is Anna Dasha Novotny, attributed her vocal issues to the relentless pace of her career over the last two and a half years. She stated, “It’s from the past two-and-a-half years of craziness that just hit me like a truck. You don’t get a lot of sleep; you talk, talk, talk, and you party and you sing. It just caught up with me.”
Following the procedure, she will require a full two weeks of vocal rest, which she described as a necessary but challenging period. “You have to retrain your brain on how to talk, and you need to learn when to exit the party early if your voice starts to hurt,” she noted with a hint of humour. The rehabilitation process will be essential for her recovery, as she aims to restore her vocal abilities to their full potential.
Despite the surgery, Dasha confirmed she would still attend this year’s CMA Awards on **November 18**, where she plans to grace the red carpet. While she will be unable to participate in the post-show festivities, the artist expressed excitement for the event. “I’ll be able to talk but can’t be out partying afterwards,” she mentioned.
In anticipation of her recovery, Dasha is working diligently on her third studio album, which she is eager to complete before her surgery. The album is set for release in early 2027 and is meant to serve as a landmark in her career. She has already unveiled several singles from the upcoming project, including “Memo,” “Mad About It,” and “82 Chevy.” Dasha expressed her ambition, stating, “I really think this album is going to be a tentpole for my career. I want it to be an album that people remember me by.”
Before her surgery, Dasha will perform at two final concert dates in California and New Mexico. Following these gigs, she is looking forward to an extended break over the holiday season. “This might be the first time and only time in the next ten years that I’ll have a full two months off during Christmas. I’m going to go on some vacations. I’m going to Europe and take advantage of the silence,” she revealed, reflecting on her plans to enjoy a much-needed rest.
Despite the pressures faced leading up to the procedure, Dasha conveyed confidence in her ability to bounce back. “I do well under pressure, and I have high expectations for myself with this album,” she affirmed. The surgery is seen as a vital step towards enabling her to perform at her best, both vocally and physically.
“I owe this to my fans and to myself—to give a full shot at doing the damn thing,” she concluded, underscoring her commitment to her craft as she prepares for this pivotal moment in her career. Dasha’s latest project, an EP titled “Anna,” was released in October 2025, showcasing her growing artistry as she navigates the challenges of the music industry.
As Dasha takes this deliberate pause for her health and rejuvenation, her fans are eager to see what the future holds for this talented country artist.
