Broadway star Bernadette Peters is honouring the late Mary Tyler Moore with a special capsule collection that revives the actress’s iconic fashion from the golden age of television. The limited-edition collaboration between Peters and the lifestyle brand Frances Valentine seeks to pay tribute to Moore’s timeless style while also supporting a good cause.

At the age of 78, Peters reflects on her enduring friendship with Moore and expresses her delight in seeing the beloved star’s fashion come back to life. “It’s just wonderful just to see them come alive again,” she told PEOPLE. The collection has been created in partnership with the Mary Tyler Moore Vision Initiative, which focuses on preserving and restoring vision for those with diabetes-related eye diseases. A portion of the proceeds from this line—20% of the net—will directly benefit the initiative.

The capsule features a range of apparel and accessories that echo some of Moore’s most memorable outfits. Each piece is designed to resonate with contemporary women while capturing the essence of the distinctive styles Moore embodied throughout her television career. A press release highlighting the collection notes that it draws inspiration from the sleek silhouettes of the 1960s as well as beloved looks from “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.”
Peters, who co-founded the pet adoption charity Broadway Barks with Moore, shares her sentiment about the nostalgia associated with revisiting her friend’s fashion legacy. She emphasizes the timelessness of the clothes, stating, “She was always so stylish. When she played Mary Richards [on The Mary Tyler Moore Show], she wore all these great clothes from the era, which are fabulous to wear now.”
Among her favourite items from the collection is the Petrie Pant, a nod to the cropped pants famously worn by Moore on “The Dick Van Dyke Show.” Peters remarked, “I think those are always so stylish and so wonderful to have.” In addition, she highlighted the Wool Peacoat and MTM Hat, referencing the iconic look Moore sported in the opening credits of her successful show. “That really says it all,” Peters said, proudly showcasing the knit hat in her campaign imagery.
The campaign not only features Peters but also includes contributions from other notable women who were inspired by Moore, such as Deborah Roberts, Rachel Dratch, Mindy Cohn, and Rowan Henchy. The collection is accompanied by a series of videos that will roll out on Frances Valentine’s social media platforms throughout the month. These segments aim to delve into Moore’s lasting impact and the significance she held in the lives and careers of these women.
Mary Tyler Moore passed away in 2017 at the age of 80. Peters, deeply affected by the loss, fondly remembered her late friend, describing her as “a brilliant, sensitive iconic actor and a precious friend.” She added, “There are no words to describe how I cherished our friendship. I will miss her dearly.”
With the Frances Valentine x Mary Tyler Moore collection, Peters continues to keep Moore’s legacy vibrantly alive, intertwining fashion with heartfelt remembrance while also contributing to a meaningful cause. The collection not only celebrates the creativity and elegance that Moore brought to the screen but also reinforces the importance of friendship, philanthropy, and style transcending generations.
