Fans are excited for the return of Rachel Weisz, who, after a long hiatus, will again portray Evelyn O’Connell, Rick’s adventurous partner. The pair haven’t shared the screen since 2001’s The Mummy Returns, when they were seen as a married couple navigating a world filled with supernatural threats, including ancient Egyptian curses.
New images from the set reveal Fraser’s seasoned version of Rick, captured driving a vintage silver-and-red rocket car—a vehicle sporting the label EPSA—during a 1957 speed trials scene. Dressed in a dark brown leather jacket and a white crash helmet, Fraser’s character looks as dashing as ever, especially with background actors donning tracksuits emblazoned with ‘Rick O’Connell Racing’.
Meanwhile, Weisz was spotted filming at the British Museum, dressed in a charming yellow polka-dot skirt, accompanied by a crop brown jacket and a matching wide-brimmed hat. Her ensemble included gloves and a vintage leather briefcase, elements that highlight her character’s continuing connection to her roots as an Egyptologist.
Despite keeping plot specifics under wraps, Fraser teased that the film will invoke nostalgia for fans by bringing “the band back together” and revisiting familiar locations from the earlier films. Fraser first broke onto the scene as Rick O’Connell in 1999’s The Mummy, a film that propelled him to stardom. The adventure follows O’Connell as he assists librarian and Egyptologist Evelyn Carnahan and her brother, Jonathan, in their quest for treasure within an ancient city. However, their expedition takes a dark turn when they inadvertently awaken Imhotep, a high priest cursed to eternal mummification.
The franchise saw its follow-up with The Mummy Returns, which introduced audiences to the couple’s son, Alex. Although Fraser reprised his role for 2008’s The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Weisz did not return, with Maria Bello stepping in as Evelyn.
