According to Carol Poules, a server at ZJ’s Family Restaurant, Moore was enjoying a quiet meal when a fellow patron recognised him and decided to cover his tab. This unexpected gesture touched Moore, prompting him to pay it forward by picking up the bills for multiple tables at the establishment.
“After he was informed that his meal was taken care of, he handed me a sum of money and said, ‘This is for everyone’s meal that’s sitting here, and the rest is for you,’” Poules recounted, adding that her immediate reaction was to cheer, “Go Bills!”
As the news of Moore’s generosity spread, diners reacted with surprise and delight. One customer, Carol Conklin, had no idea about the star’s kindness until she approached the register to pay her own bill. “We were just leaving the restaurant when we went up to pay, and the cashier looked at us and said, ‘You don’t owe any money.’ I was shocked!” Conklin shared.
Carol Poules estimated that Moore covered the meals for around six or seven tables, spending a couple of hundred dollars and ensuring a healthy gratuity for the staff in the process. She expressed her exhilaration at witnessing such a generous act, describing it as a “pinch-me moment.”
