A 62-year-old woman in Colorado has been charged with second-degree murder after allegedly keeping a man’s dismembered remains in her home for several months. Sheldon “Shelly” Wilson is also facing charges of tampering with a deceased human body and tampering with physical evidence. The disturbing allegations came to light when Wilson reported the man’s death to the authorities, revealing a shocking tale that has left the community stunned.

According to court documents, Wilson, along with one of her daughters, visited the Colorado Springs Police Department on September 19. During their visit, she admitted that the man had died in her home in March. Wilson reportedly warned the officers, “You’re going to find out a lot more real soon, it’s bad,” and added ominously, “There’s no words for what you’re fixing to find out.” This statement prompted an immediate response from law enforcement.
Upon arriving at Wilson’s residence in Colorado Springs, officers detected a strong odour of decomposition emanating from the home. They discovered two black plastic storage totes with red lids located in an upstairs bedroom. Inside these containers, investigators found human remains wrapped in garbage bags. During interrogations, Wilson disclosed that she had a longstanding drinking problem and admitted to having harmed the man on several occasions while intoxicated. Although she could recall instances of finding him injured after nights of heavy drinking, she professed to have no memory of causing those injuries herself, estimating that she had done “bad things” to him at least ten times.
Court documents indicate that the man, who had suffered multiple strokes and had once received hospice care, had improved under Wilson’s care. However, she claimed that on the day after his birthday in March, she found him unresponsive. Following this discovery, Wilson allegedly covered his body with blankets and went to work, hoping he would be alive upon her return. In a moment of reflection, she recalled thinking, “What did I do? Reports suggest that Wilson left the man’s body on the bed for approximately a week before dismembering it sometime in May or June. When asked if she believed she had caused his death, Wilson reportedly replied, “I’m scared I might have.” Furthermore, she admitted to continuing to collect the man’s Social Security benefits after his passing, raising further questions about her actions during this time.
