Former Fox News associate producer Jennifer Eckhart has tragically passed away at the age of 36. Authorities have reported her death, which occurred on 19 September, as a suicide. Eckhart was found in her home in Florida, with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office confirming the ruling in an incident report.

Eckhart’s story gained national attention following her allegations against former colleague Ed Henry in a 2020 lawsuit, in which she accused him of rape. After an extensive and deeply personal legal ordeal, a settlement was finally reached in 2025. During her time at Fox News, Eckhart worked for seven years, primarily as an associate producer for Fox Business.
The controversy surrounding Eckhart’s allegations began when Henry was dismissed from Fox News due to claims of sexual misconduct, which were later connected to her case. In her lawsuit, she alleged that Henry had violently assaulted her, leaving her “injured, bruised, and battered.” Additional claims surfaced, including that he had made demands for her to act as his “sex slave” and threatened her with retaliation if she did not comply. Eckhart also alleged that he took photographs for potential blackmail purposes.
Responding to the allegations, Fox News announced that they terminated Henry as soon as the network learned of Eckhart’s claims and insisted that there had been no prior allegations of sexual harassment against him at the company. Ultimately, Fox News was dismissed as a defendant in the lawsuit.
The settlement, which was finalised in 2025, marked the end of what Eckhart described as a “re-traumatising” five-year legal battle. In a statement following the resolution of her case, she expressed her relief, stating, “With this settlement in place, a weight has now been lifted from my shoulders and my passion to support fellow trauma survivors has been renewed.” Following her legal journey, she went on to establish a nonprofit organisation, The Reinvented Project, aimed at helping trauma survivors through animal-assisted therapy.
In addition to her charitable work, Eckhart launched a podcast titled “REINVENTED with Jen Eckhart,” where she aimed to amplify the voices of trauma survivors and explore themes of recovery. Notable guests, including musician Billy Corgan, shared their experiences surrounding generational trauma on her platform. Eckhart noted, “I turned pain into purpose,” reiterating that one does not need validation from a courtroom to become stronger in the aftermath of trauma.
Her final social media post, shared on 1 June 2023, hinted at an optimistic outlook, with Eckhart expressing her excitement about future projects. “Haven’t posted since the last time gas was under $4. What a time to be alive,” she wrote alongside a photo of herself in Florida. “Glad to be sharing this weird little corner of the Internet again. Working on some exciting stuff that I can’t wait to share with you all!”
Eckhart’s death raises concerns over the mental health struggles faced by survivors of trauma.
