Alan Cumming, the Emmy-winning host of the popular reality competition show ‘The Traitors’, has expressed an exciting vision for the programme’s future. He revealed that he would love to see Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman donning a distinctive green cloak as she joins the cast. This reflection came shortly after Cumming celebrated his third consecutive Emmy win for hosting the series, alongside its recognition as Outstanding Reality Competition Programme at the Emmys.

In an enthusiastic conversation with reporters post-ceremony, Cumming, aged 61, shared his vision for the upcoming seasons, saying, “We said it at the table, but I do see Nicole Kidman. She would be amazing in a green cloak.” His comments follow the show’s new season featuring civilian contestants, which premiered on September 17.
During his acceptance speech at the Emmys on 14 September, Cumming expressed gratitude towards the Academy for their continued support, which he described as inspiring and motivating the team to elevate their efforts and create an even more compelling show. Previously, he earned his third consecutive Emmy for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Programme during the Creative Arts Emmy Awards held on 5 September.
Nicole Kidman, who is 59 years old, was a familiar face at the Emmys this year as well. She received a nomination as an executive producer for the Apple TV series ‘Margo’s Got Money Troubles’, in which she also had a recurring role. Kidman’s recent projects include ‘Practical Magic 2’ and the television series ‘Scarpetta’, while she is also set to reprise her role in ‘Big Little Lies’ for a third season and stars as CIA supervisor Kaitlyn Meade in ‘Lioness’, which debuted on Paramount+ on 2 August 2026.
Fans of ‘The Traitors’ now have the civilian iteration, dubbed ‘New Blood’, to enjoy. This season takes a different approach, featuring everyday Americans instead of the usual array of reality stars and celebrities, providing a fresh experience for the audience.
Cumming commented on this shift, noting the excitement it brings to the game. He mentioned that the new contestants, which he affectionately refers to as “ordinary Americans,” have infused the competition with passion and enthusiasm. “It couldn’t have gone better. They’re more excited, and there’s more at stake, and they’re sort of more passionate, stupid servants,” he quipped with a laugh.
Interestingly, while the civilian season aimed for a more subdued aesthetic, Cumming acknowledged that this plan has not quite materialised. “Well, hilariously, in this next season, the one that’s about to come out, we thought we’d kind of tone it down a little… it failed,” he admitted, indicating that they have retained the show’s vibrant flair.
Meanwhile, the excitement around ‘The Traitors’ isn’t just limited to the current season. Just a day after the premiere of ‘New Blood’, news broke that the series will feature another celebrity-filled season set to air in 2027. Peacock announced that 23 well-known figures from the realms of reality and pop culture have signed on to participate, with names like Kristin Chenoweth, Bianca Del Rio, and Dominic Monaghan among them.
Cumming shared the importance of keeping the content dynamic and engaging. “We always say no good murder mystery is ever the same and that’s what we always think for ‘The Traitors’,” he noted. The team behind the show is dedicated to ensuring that players are continuously challenged, maintaining an element of surprise that keeps the narrative fresh and unpredictable.
With such ambitious plans for the series’ future, and the possibility of Kidman’s involvement, the anticipation for upcoming seasons continues to grow. ‘The Traitors: New Blood’ debuted its two-hour premiere on NBC on September 17, with new episodes airing each Thursday at 8 p.m. ET/PT. For those keen on catching up, episodes will be available for streaming on Peacock the following day, ensuring that fans won’t miss a moment of the intrigue.
