**Tragic Loss in College Sports: Amanda Mack Passes Away at 20**

Amanda Mack, a promising young athlete and member of the Holy Cross women’s volleyball team, has tragically passed away at the age of 20. Her untimely death, which occurred on September 16, has left friends, family, and teammates devastated. The cause of her passing was linked to a rare blood disorder known as severe aplastic anaemia, from which she had suffered for just a few months.

Mack’s health issues began in July when she was admitted to the hospital in critical condition. The young athlete detailed her struggle with the life-threatening disorder on her Instagram, revealing that she had awakened feeling unwell and subsequently lost consciousness. Upon arrival at the hospital, her doctors found her blood levels alarmingly low, with her haemoglobin at 4 and platelets at 1.

In her heartfelt posts, Mack shared the harrowing experience of being diagnosed with the condition. Initially, medical professionals suspected leukaemia based on her lab results. However, after undergoing a series of bone marrow biopsies, it was confirmed that she was suffering from severe aplastic anaemia.
