In a heartfelt message shared on her social media, Ferrer, 32, conveyed the couple’s decision to part ways, stating that they would be following “separate paths.” The message reflected a tone of mutual respect, as Ferrer emphasised that their decision was rooted in love and a commitment to prioritising their son, Río. “Our priority will continue to be always accompanying Río with all our love,” she stated.
Ferrer requested privacy from the public and the media during this challenging time, expressing appreciation for the understanding shown by fans. Her announcement comes in the wake of speculation regarding the couple’s relationship status, ignited by a TikTok upload where she featured Karol G’s poignant breakup song, “Alguien Que Te Amaba.”

During a recent interview with Brazil’s G Show, Ferrer touched upon her relationship with Balvin, whose full name is José Álvaro Osorio Balvín. She remarked on the importance of communication and companionship within their partnership, noting, “There isn’t [one key]. Each couple develops a different kind of complicity.” Interestingly, she also shared that she would not be joining Balvin at the Rock in Rio festival, citing the needs of their five-year-old son, whom they continuously strive to support in his routine and development.

The couple first met in 2017 while filming the music video for Balvin’s song “Sigo Extrañándote.” Their romantic relationship blossomed in 2018, and in June 2021, they welcomed their son, Río. Ferrer recounted the moment she discovered her pregnancy, stating she conducted multiple tests in disbelief and revealed Balvin’s initial reaction as one of shock and joy when she shared the news.
Following the birth of their son, Balvin discussed the meaning behind Río’s name during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, stating, “Río, like river, I want him to just float.” This sentiment seemed to encapsulate his hopes for their son’s future.
Despite the pressures that often accompany celebrity relationships, Ferrer has previously expressed her enjoyment of public life and her support for Balvin’s career. “I enjoy it, I love going to events. I feel comfortable in front of cameras so that’s never been a problem,” she remarked, illustrating the dynamic nature of their partnership.
As both J Balvin and Valentina Ferrer embark on this new chapter separately, the entertainment community and their fans continue to express their support for the couple and their commitment to co-parenting their son. As they navigate the complexities of their lives apart, many are left reflecting on the impact of their relationship and the shared moments that have come to define them.
